Elements have re-emerged, but the drum sequencing still kinda sounds like the South...

When I hear that funk sound I think of the LinnDrum machine....4 on the floor type shyt or sequencing with a very loose feel to the groove, a slight swing to it.... not that stiff shyt with triplets rattling over it....

Yea I get it.....

rhythmically it defines that sound....
4 to the floor bass got very outdated, that's the 70's-80's sound. Double time, complex high hats add syncopation, you don't need swing if your beat is syncopated. 4 to the floor bass only makes sense if you're using an actual drumset, not a drum machine

The problem is producers using generic hi hat patterns, instead of experimenting coming up with new ones

shyt is so annoying, like every one of those fukkin trap producers uses the exact same boring af bullshyt drums & patterns.
Those ticking hi hats make my ears bleed now.
And you can always tell that live drums/instruments are barely used anymore, theres no real "space"/"depth" in the beats anymore, it all sounds flat and liveless

The best thing about G Funk is that LA let it go away...and new LA cats didn't keep trying to bring it back

You might get a few G Funk infused tracks, or the old timers making the sounds they've always made.... but G Funk aint coming back cause there is no reason for it to.
