Personally I think flat eathers use tesla as an appeal to authority and it also helps that he opposed the theory of relativity since that would blow a hole in the flat earth argument.

Yes some things Tesla said help the flat earth argument. The next question should be “Why?” If the flat earth argument holds no weight according to most. And to reiterate, Tesla was ahead of his time so let’s not try to downgrade him to soon kook throwing rocks at Einstein’s throne
