There's absolutely no legal or civil guidelines or precedent for being in fear of your life.

The gun is a last resort in all situations. There are legal guidelines, federal and state depending on your ccw, some state you have a duty to retreat, others state you may stand your ground. None of them state you can pull it out and start firing (which he did not do), all of them state you can fire based on imminent threat (which includes an active assault---which was occurring).
