sorta kinda fresh outta jail and had just moved back down south.

Heard about biggie dying almost the same way I heard about Pac dying. Wasn't watching the news like that cause I was too busy being in the mix, walked in the house and heard a family member talking about it/a family member told me.

Mom (who at the time would take any means to make my day worse than it was): " Oh! You heard that big name rapper died? What was his name? Notorious Big! (she pronounced it "big")"

Thing was, I was still in jail mode and I wasn't really fazed by it.

Not gonna lie, I was a sorta-kinda fan. I also hadn't started LISTENING to music then. I was just HEARING it. I didn't really appreciate Biggie as a lyricist until like 1998. Didn't actually get hit with the weight of Pac dying until 2001 (and boy did it hit me).

Was in high school at the time....was around evening time on a 3 way call with some hoe trying to holla at me and my homie. My boy tells me that they shot and killed biggie. At the time, i was a huge 2pac stan and shouted "good, they finally popped his fat ass". But months later i had his poster right next to Pac and Eazy-e on my wall.

All I know is something is not adding up still. Greg Kading keep trying to say Big only security was Reggie Blaylock.
Meanwhile Gene tries to say they didnt have enough security out in Cali and Big only had Reggie Blaylock and Paul Bufford.

But theres articles about 5 off duty Inglewood police officers working security for Biggie that night.
Then on the Dossier episode with Reggie Wright, one of those dossier guys names all 5 officers who were working for Biggie.

which one is it?
1) Articles by who?
2) Working security just at the club or rolling with Biggie?
I'll aways remember that Saigon song contrabrand :mjlol:

Who do y'all n**as think that it was that killed Biggie?

A) Southside Crips ‘cause Puffy owed 'em a grip

B) Some crazy 'Pac fan that flipped and unloaded a clip

C) Missiles from pistols from government officials D)

The same cat that came back and then sang "I Miss You"
The most likely is A

Heard about it on the radio (Power 106) then saw it on the local news. Few weeks before, BIG was at the same station previewing songs from Life After Death, I remember recording Goin Back To Cali and Notorious Thugs off the radio. Notorious Thugs was missing Layzie Bone verse for some reason

woke up and heard about it on the radio. had planned to spend the day with my bro, his BM and my newly born nephew. we hung out at her house alternating from the radio/tv and listening to Baduizm...to this day, i have that trifecta association: Baduzim + Biggie's Death + my nephew as a baby
Same, my roommate left wgci playing first thing in the morning when he went off for duty and I kept wondering why they was playing Biggie songs on a Sunday morning but I kept dozing in and out of sleep so I didn’t know if I was dreaming or not.

Then the DJ came on and made the announcement.

Sat there stuck for a couple minutes then I walked out to the lounge area and everybody was sitting there looking fukked up.

One of the weirdest days of my life.

Breh whether it’s believable me or not, Puff put the whole squad in the line of fire. BIG’s whole murder seemed sus but the narrative of East/West whatever gets closed with his shooting. It’s almost like BIG was a patsy for that narrative but without doing anything a patsy would do. Pac got wiped off the board so it’s like why not wipe BIG off and people just “accept” it.

Puff moved more like a roadie with a lot of money than an exec who didn’t protect his assets

Biggie should have never come to LA. I understand it was necessary to promote the album but I don't know how they thought it was worth it tbh.
To be fair, life was a lot different before the internet.

You had to touch the people.

You couldn’t just upload to streaming, make a couple instagram posts, get a paparazzi flick leaving the club with an up and coming singer and say some sensational shyt on Vlad TV to roll out your project.

Big was at a stage where he didn’t really have to have to but at the same time, it was just his second album and he was already starting to face criticism at home and in LA so he had to get out save face.
