Who are these people? Nobody in this thread said that. I've heard people say they were bums in comparison to what Emmitt had but I honestly have never heard people summarily dismiss the talent around him.

I've noticed how how when people like a superstar that has won a title or titles they will underrate his supporting cast in order to elevate him and conversely people will shyt on a guy with no rings and totally ignore the circumstances associated with their empty fingers.

Who underrates Emmitt? He's acknowledged as the all-time great HOF back that he is generally.

Not this thread specifically but barry in general. Every since he retired people love to downplay the lions talent to boost his status. And on the flipside people love to downplay emmit and act like his success was just a product of The cowboys talent. If I had a dollar for every time I heard "Barry's o line was trash", and "anyone could rush for those numbers behind Dallas's o Line" id be rich

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
937 yards in 15 games

62 ypg

3.5 ypc

:dead:

He was 35 which is old as shyt for a running back. To put things in perspective... the age of running backs in their final year

Marshall Faulk - 32
Jerome Bettis - 33
Curtis Martin - 32
Erick dikkerson - 33
Ederrin James - 32
LaDainian Tomlinson - 32
Thomas Jones - 33

Those lions teams talent was always underrated. They had 2 All Pro offensive lineman Kevin Glover/Lomas brown and All Pro WR Herman Moore.

Brett Perriman was extremely underrated as well

Johnnie Morton wasn't no slouch, either.I remember the Lions being mentioned when it came to best receiving corps

I hate when people get in this argument and try to put Emmit on Barry's level. It's not even close.

Nobody is saying he's only a product of his line, but he gets bumped up a few notches due to how good his line was.

Barry would have beasted with that line.

No one is putting Emmitt on Barry's level, no one said Emmitt is as good as Barry.

And Emmitt did beast with that oline that's why he has the most rushing yards ever :what:

herman moore didnt become a lion until barry's 3rd year and didnt become a starter until barry's 4th year. beyond the oline the problem was he never got consistent qb play, he'd get a flash in the pan season from a qb (kramer, krieg, mitchell) in then the next season absolutely nothing. i missed the green bay playoff game so i cant really comment on that. as a lion fan the most disappointing playoff game has to be the one where he came back from the knee injury and absolutely shredded the packers, but the lions lost the game because of the same exact blown coverage giving up a wide open deep ball at the end of the half and the end of the game.

I wouldnt say it's not close. Emmitt had very good footwork and great vision, and though he had huge holes to go thru, he would hit them with great speed and you werent catching him from behind.

That said, I'd still take Barry. He did more with way less
