I wanna see that Goku/Vegeta final fight SO DAMN BAD
Yeah, if they ever do another DBZ movie that's the shyt I'd want to see.
And I can see them doing that too...Goku and Vegeta are both full-blooded Saiyans and they would be miserable if they got too old and weak to fight anymore. They'd probably much rather go out in a blaze of glory. So one day, after all their kids are grown and Earth is at peace, they just go into space for that one final fight to settle things and are never seen again.
The final battle of the last living full Saiyans. Fight is so epic people see supernovas years later.
If it was done well, some shyt like that could make a great finale for Dragonball.
Goes without saying. It's pretty much a rule of the DBZ universe that Vegeta never beats anybody important.

Groundbreaking Science
Groundbreaking Science is a book revealed to have been written by Gohan in Age 804.[1] This book gave an understanding of ki usage to the general public, thus opening up a worldwide interest in martial arts and fighting.
History
After the demise of his father, Gohan reflects on the power he wields and so he devoted himself to scholarly research on the source of that strength, ki. Gohan begins researching the martial arts of the past, organizing them in his book Groundbreaking Science in Age 804. The book quietly gains popularity and one of the articles, "Katchin Can Be Cut!", has an immense influence in the birth of the Swordsman class, as it leads to the creation of Trunks and Goten's Kikoukenjutsu Sword School in the year following the book's release. It also leads to Krillin and Tien Shinhan starting up their own training schools in Age 821, the New Turtle School and the New Crane School respectively. As a result, by Age 1000, many Earthlings have taken up advance martial arts and understand ki control.

Master Roshi wished to return to teaching, but felt that he was too old, thus his former pupil Krillin took on the duty of re-establishing his teacher's school as the New Turtle School. Krillin's teachings emphasized teamwork and overwhelming stronger opponents with multiple attacks. Having fought many battles alongside Saiyans and Namekians, Krillin understood that Humans simply could not compare to aliens and developed techniques that revolved around working together. Even if they are unable to deal a killing blow to kill their opponent, they can still weaken them and, by combining their efforts with others, would be able to contend with far stronger enemies.

Some specifically gained interest in the theory of channeling ki energy through swords to increase the speed and power of strikes because of the book's article "Katchin Can Be Cut!". This article reveals that the dense material Katchin can be cut, which greatly intrigue Trunks and Goten. "Swordmanship is cool, isn't it. Let's set up an awesome school all by ourselves!", the two become enthralled by this motivation. Via intense training, the two are able to develop their natural potential and, as adults, create the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School to educate the planet's new generation of warriors.
In Age 820, remnants of Frieza's Planet Trade Organization attack Earth and the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School is reported to play a major role in their defeat; being the only major fighting school established until a year later when Krillin and Tien's schools are founded. The Kikoukenjutsu Sword School still exists as of Age 1000 and is one of the most notable schools on the planet.

@ the same time. Goku was near 65 at that time and Vegeta was in his 70s. That would be an interesting image to see how they look like at that age and what new powers the learned since the last battle with Buu. A final battle that has flashes of greatness years after it ended.
