Owners now have an excuse not to spend. They literally cant just say "fukk it" and keep spending because there are actual penalties now. Every measure since the salary cap has been a step towards this.
Injuries get too much of the many share of blame to be honest. 3 point shooting should be the bigger culprit. We saw good teams lose in these playoffs. The Celtics were about to go down 3-1 even before Tatum got injured. They couldn’t hit a 3 the first game.I think the BIGGEST reason we see this variance is injuries more than any 3pt variance, salary cap restrictions etc..
GOOD! Bad owners can’t just blame the NBA for being “anti small market”. During the heattles era, we had to hear “woe is me” speeches everyday about how the league is unfair to small markets. Now these owners actually have to work! Anybody/any market can win it all, and big free agent signing no longer make or break the league. Dynasties are over. It’s like the nfl used to be. Nobody wanted to hear me and woe is me dolphins takes. This new CBA is awful
I can't believe the players ok'd this bullshyt
The 2nd Apron Repeater Tax is hell on earth
This is a hard cap in the NBA like in the NFL but the difference is contracts are guaranteed in the NBA. In the NFL you can just cut a Ben Simmons or a Damian Lillard but in the NBA you have to try and trade those horrible contracts.
Its just very hard.
You have to be a team like the Thunder and accumulate picks, trade for a young star and hit on him.. Decide who your core is pay them and trade everyone else to replenish your team but you have to hit on these picks. You can't make a mistake![]()
NBA is the de facto parity league from where I’m standing. I called Kansas City winning the AFC the last 5yrs. I was wrong once(Joe burrow year). NBA Parity>NFL Parity.By the end of this year, we’ll have had in the 7 season span:
7 different teams win the Finals
11 different teams make the Finals
16 different teams make the Conf Finals
For comparison’s sake this is the last 7 NFL seasons (2018-2024):
5 different teams win the SB
7 different teams make the SB
14 different teams make the Conf title game
And MLB’s last 7 full seasons (2018-2024):
6 different teams win the WS
10 different teams make the WS
15 different teams make the LCS
NBA is no longer the “no parity league”
Yep! This what they called for for years. No more player movement and freedom. Equity across the board. I don’t wanna hear no more owners crying. Draft well and shyt up!Not only are their earnings capped. Movement is limited now as well. Owners finally got what they wanted..cost certainty and control of when and where players go (unless they are Bradley Beal)
They’ll find something to complain about. Complaining about the product has become tradition. That’s why I made this thread. For years ppl wanted parity. Surely they won’t find reason to complain about what they’re seeing now.League is in a great place.
Parity, nightly great playoff games, high ratings, "old school" defense, 3 of the 4 conference finalists being small market teams, New York is back. Should be no more bytching for a while![]()
The Celtics can't keep the same team due to the crazy 2nd apron taxes. The Celtics going to be taxed 200+ million and have to let players go or trade, breaking up a potential dynasty. Like @In The Zone '98 stated Jaylen himself may get traded and end up in a bad situation.Educate me. I wasnt aware of this.

Yeah you right this is a mechanism of the owners protecting themselves against themselves but this CBA is terribleGOOD! Bad owners can’t just blame the NBA for being “anti small market”.
