...less of a fanatic towards sports?

I'm about to turn 34 and am really focused on my career. Just about to finish up school and move in July. I'm a huge Yankees/Knicks fan but find myself more indifferent than in the past. I don't have a wife or kids yet so it's not that. I dunno.

Also, when I see a guy who's in his middle-ages and whose only focus is on sports I find it kind of depressing. The simple fact that you base your whole existence on something over which you have no control? That's not even stupid - it's insane.

Thoughts?

Not me. Outside the Lakers I really could give a damn about the NBA. I pay attention to MLS more than the NBA. I'm probably more fanatic than I was when I was younger

i'm only a year older than you, but between fam, work and other stuff, I can't focus all my energy on sports like I could as a teen and early 20's adult. hell, back in the day I watched baseball and followed it closely. but that was really just more of a product of having summers off and a gang of free time.

I'm still a huge Baseball fan but I don't take it nearly to heart as I used to....or the Mets have just been that irrelevant the past several years. The NFL interest has been about the same, NHL I actually stopped following for a while and its the past 2 years I've slowly been getting back into. For these 2 sports I'm somewhere between a casual fan and a die hard. As for the NBA, basketball used to be my 2nd favorite sport now I don't follow it at all and don't miss it all. I'm 28

I'm 29. Still love sports, but not as much as when I was in my late teens/early 20's. When I was younger, I knew almost every player in the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and English soccer but now I can only name about 5-6 guys per team outside of the teams I support. The only full games I watch these days are games involving my favorite teams.

I'm still big on football, but less on basketball (I still never really recovered from the NBA strike in 99'), plus after Jordan retired I paid much less attention, although I still follow it some. I loss interest in baseball back when Mike Schmit retired in the 80s and after Jose Conseco and Darryl Strawberry fell off.

I definitely don't play anymore of either. My work hours are unpredictable and ridiculous, plus with the time that I do get off, I have to get other things done.

Overall though, when I was younger (pre teen and teen years) I knew football stats and players FAR better than I do now. Why? Because at that time trading cards were big in the early 90s and it would force me to familiarize myself with just about every team, player and stat every year. I traded them, played ball in the street and had debates with friends about it all day everyday....so I knew everything inside and out.

Now? Not so much. I still pay attention to the league but basically most of my interest is in the Eagles.

What school you attending at age 34?
I never finished my bachelor's - failed out of Rutgers then went to work for almost seven years. Now, I'm out west, away from all the nonsense the NYC brings with it, and am FINALLY graduating.

When you cover it, it's not that the love goes away, you just become way more objective. The irrational nature towards my favorite teams just isn't there as much. I take that "no cheering from the press box" rule a little too seriously at times. That's where the coli comes in

Still pretty big into sports. A Cowboys loss will have me not watching espn for ta whole week. The Rockets being 8 games over .500 and almost a complete lock for the playoffs only to competely free all outta the playoffs really hurt my soul. I'm still not over the Nats/St.Louis meltdown.

Hell, my appreciation for sports mightve increase becaue now i make enough money on my own to go to game live. Go to any where from 20-30 Nats game a year. about 5 Rockets game a season. Dont go to NFL games anymore, that the worst live fan experience for me. there just no entertaining view imo.

My gf once told me, "where would you be without me in your life?" I responded at the Nats game.

I still love sports for the entertainment and escape it provides. I would literally go crazy without that. Can't watch as much as I used to but still make time for it. No longer a fanatic in terms of taking a personal stake in nikkas I never met who couldn't care less about me.

I feel you completely, but to be honest, its not just sports, its entertainment in general..

I still love sports man, bigtime, I just can't dedicate the man hours to following it like I used to.

It's only so many hours in a day and the clock waits for no man. You can't say that you want to be financially comfortable and yet spend countless hours in front of a TV or chasing broads. A sacrifice has to be made somewhere, if you plan on pursuing endeavors that will allow you to live comfortably and retire early.

It's simple logistics bruh. Maybe if there were 32 hours in a day as opposed to 24, I'd probably still follow sports like I used to

I still love sports like I always have but I'm not a fanatic in regards to a team. I follow players that I like. I do have some teams that I root for but it's not life and death for me.
