Does anybody refer to their child as "bro" or "homie"?

I don't have any children, but I doubt I would refer to them as such. They'd be my babies, and I would probably give them a nickname centered around their actual name or a personality trait. That's what I do with the kids I've babysat and nannied for.

Nah I wouldn't refer to my child as that , but it's been established that us blacks changed the context of the word and reserved it for us , maybe if cacs officially changed the definition in webster some of ya niccas would feel comfortable using it :manny:
in-ter-rest-ing.... you say the word is changed, yet you say you wouldn't call your child the same very word you feel has a new context.

It's still profanity moreless which I'm not going to use in front of my child because if they use it in public settings like school infront of their teacher they're going to get the repercussions & so until he/she gets older im gucci on that :manny:

I say it all day everyday....EXCEPT around my kids (i have full custody of both).

Now if im talking to my homeboy about my son (who is 7) , I'll say, "Yeah that lil ni99a think he slick."

But I never use it around my son or refer to him using it ever...My pops never uses the word (at least not in my presence) and my mom does, but never used to reference me.

lmao you think calling your child a nygga is YOUR culture and not the white mans ? :mjlol:

Yes.
Do we not use nikka in our culture everyday?
Language appropriation is definitely one of the unique cultural identifiers of the Africans brought to American through slavery.
Taking a word and making it mean something else is one of the unique cultural identifiers of so called "Hip Hop" as well.

Giving our own meaning to words of the white mans language is nothing we should shame ourselves about. Taking that word in particular, and turning its power against the white man, is one of the greater accomplishments of the Africans brought to the United States of America.

I won't be shamed out of my culture.
