Yes, I tagged members of Nigerian background and (mistakenly) asked a language question to person who I thought spoke Yoruba because I believe I believe that foreigners/diasporans are all the same. Including me.

This story involved Nigerians, but it seems to be a general story and occurrence that others can relate to. I mean, you and another member of Congolese background immediately brought up a related story involving a dignitary traveling abroad being confronted by a diasporan. Others of different heritage might weigh in later, to recount their stories.

If I made a thread/post that insulted a group of people, I would walk it back, apologize, and remove it.
But you seem to take more exception to this thread title than any of the Nigerian (or descent) members.

Nigerians in diaspora generally look at the political elite with disdain. These dudes are basically inaccessible in Nigeria so they use these opportunities to express their displeasure with Nigeria and anyone connected to the government.

BTW, my Yoruba isn't too great. But was able to pick out some words and Google translate the rest.

Im all for putting pressure on corrupt politicians. But if you gonna pull up on someone, at least have a complaint in hand. This guy didn't have any issues, he just wanted to clout chase.

Thanks. I asked because I thought that perhaps there was recent vote or measure enacted that the younger man was reacting to.

It also appeared as though the official got defensive before the man was able to say his peace or ask his question. Him trying to take the phone escalated things and seemed to derail whatever he was about to be confronted about.

I’m no marxist but I find it useful to describe how elites shape normative thoughts/behaviours in societies with the ultimate goal of perpetuating their power/wealth

I didn't bring up any story, I provided details on the story brought up by someone else because it just so happens I live where it happened

I don’t vote in Nigeria’s elections. The state needs to be reconfigured before I legitimize its politics.

Nope. They weren't supporters of another politician. That's the version his people and Kabila pushed since back then Tshisekedi was their enemy. They were young boys with no affiliation with no party or politician. He was beat up by people who accused him of being a collaborator of Kabila in messing up the country, which was true.

If Thisekedi son who's now in power is caught sleeping in Paris, he will probably get beat up by the same people who beat Kengo up.
