If that took place on the other side of the Great Lakes it would have been unfortunately a different story.
I think there are roles for them,but political correctness needs to be thrown in the bin. For instance certain undercover work, working with rape victims, children,perhaps negotiating in a hostage situation if a psychologist believes the perp might respond better to a woman and can you imagine the amount of suing that would go on, if female criminals were being searched by male officers?
But really, it has to be accepted that the average female police woman isn't physically robust enough for street work certainly not working on their own , and not only that mentally are not suitable. Iam sure there are exceptions, there are tough ,brave women around and there are weak,soft men, , but really what has gone wrong are gender quotas for instance, It should just be accepted really that for certain jobs in the police men are better, and for others women are.
I have heard it said, that in a very violent situation,men will be less likely to hurt a female, and that female police officers are better able to diffuse these situations, not in my experience... and some violent men would purposely single out a female officer knowing full well she is weaker. Saw a video of a riot recently in the UK, one of the rioters purposely picked on the only female officer on the front row and caved her skull in with a brick,luckily she was wearing one of those riot helmets,but she had to be stretchered away. .The rioter thinking no doubt it would weaken the police line.
