From what I'm seeing before 2014 All-Defensive Teams were voted by coaches who would actually know who is disruptive. Kobe was in that same convo as Jokic, Lebron, KG, MJ and Rondo (to name a few) where the things they do on defense aren't necessarily noticed by fans. So while they look like they are slacking on defense at times a lot of times they know the opposing teams plays so know when they won't be involved in actions or they position themselves to break up the other team's play. As fans we have no idea when that is happening cause we don't know what plays the offense is running but the coaches would know.

To fans and media defense is only looked at as the bulldog type that's all up in the offensive players face and guarding tight when sometimes the mental game of defense is just as important.

Point is Kobe didn’t deserve the first team selection. This coming from a big Kobe fan.
Who deserved them and what years?

You were saying Wade but you don’t even know who snubbed Wade.

It should be Shooting guards. Name them.

I saw someone say Tony Allen, the guy who was starting single digit games, averaging 15-20 minutes and injured half the season. Nobody is making any compelling arguments, just a bunch of “Kobe is overrated”.
