Its not japanese its written by Amy Hennig from Uncharted/Kain, Gary Whitta of Star Wars Rogue One, and a couple other people.

And it’s an Isekai which is basically what the japanese version of a CW show is

It wasn't written by Hennig. She did the main story concept.
