I hate how much people seem to be able to get out of the smallest bits of media no matter how out of context.

Corey Holcomb said it the best; so, ya'll wanted Chris to go all Tupac? :pacspit:

I've said it once and I'll say it again; most of these people expect athletes and entertainers to do shyt they don't have the balls to do. Most want them to lose their entire careers for the cause, but, none would come to work 15 mins late for the cause.

Please stop. Dude may have a point but these players aren't merely "cherry picked".

Completely disregarding the tens of thousands of hours these athletes put into their craft to not only get to the highest level of their sport but to be one of the best players at that level.

You still need the skill (especially in sports) to back up being the proclaimed best.

And the NBA and owners share profits 50/50 from my understanding. Ticket sales, TV deals etc. FAR BETTER than the NFL where guaranteed contracts are far and few between, players abuse painkillers to play every Sunday and risk their bodies and lives over a sport that doesn't care about them.

Athletes are nowhere near slaves, but they are underpaid in regards to the revenue they bring in.

My girl brought tickets for me to see my Pacers play the wizards, tickets were like 40 bucks. Looked at the same seats when the Lakers come to town almost $250. That's all due to one player.

They generate billions in profit and only get a fraction of that in return.
These type of cost value analysis are always so short sighted because realisitically looking at the larger entity's costs (be it sports organizations like the NBA or record labels) is just not pro black enough.

Like if lebron and them started playing pickup at the local park do you think it would be generating the same millions as the NBA? Without the amenities, without the sponsorships, without the media deals? fukk no.

Its easy to just look at gross earnings between individual and organizations and cry foul but its lowkey dumb cause by that logic every employee on the planet is "getting ripped off"

"I do the coding for google and only make 100k but google making billions. Imma start my own google and make those billions by myself" - Ideas so simple nobody does it

If Lebron and them quit the NBA and were playing ball at the park, there would be a bidding war tomorrow for the television rights to show those games.

If they stopped wearing nikes, there are hundreds of Chinese athletic companies with deep pockets that would want a piece of the action.

Pro leagues are only successful as they are supposed to represent the best of their chosen sport. That's why major league soccer and arena football dont make much money. If there were a league people could point to with demonstrably better talent and competition, all the sponsorships and advertising in the world couldn't save that league

Worst comparison ever...... Out of the big 3 sports, why is it that the NBA is the only sport with a max salary......?? Let's start there.... :sas1:

Which proves my point more than yours

Lebron and co would not be part of the hypothetical bidding war, and said bidding war would be a fight for who will take the NBA's place in re-establishing the padagrims you're complaining about right now.

See what I mean by short sighted?

If they stopped wearing nikes, there are hundreds of Chinese athletic companies with deep pockets that would want a piece of the action.
Not sure what this is supposed to prove...but without the platform provided by the nba the caliber of sponsorships would not be the same. Lol @ the idea of the chinese seeing this without broadcast deals being made. I guess chinese investors would open their wallets up after watching games through someone's instagram stories.

The NBA signed a billion dollar deal with nike. Lol @ a random sponsorship from china replacing that

this only comes about because an orginizaton already establishes itself as the pro league or the highest level. You already used the best example with arena football. Lebron and co are only considered the highest level due to the competition curated from the NBA in the first place. after all do you know the best player in the chinese league's name? Do you pay attention to the best euro basketball players? Or the best NBA players

Organization's rep > individual athlete.

Yall talk like there wasnt a day when black people weren't in these leagues at all. The negro league had amazing talent but the money and platform was at the MLB in spite of the racism.

What did the atheltes choose?

Which league survived?
