White collar jobs require an education - they earned their comfort. Anybody can do that blue collar bullshyt - that's why it's reserved for dumb fukks. :lawd:

Im a college grad and a white collar worker and this has got to be literally one of the dumbest things I've ever seen posted in my entire life. If you have a car, do you think you or I built it? Do you grow your own food or build the furniture you sit in? Better yet, did you sew the clothes you wear? That shyt is beyond ignorant...

If you have to compete with unskilled labor for work then you deserve unskilled labor wages. Just like if you have to compete with entry level talent then you deserve entry level compensation. Simple as that.

Now, I support increasing the minimum wage, adding protection for workers from the whims of employers, and even instituting the distribution requirements to account for management greed. But these insane benefits and salaries for mediocre workers is ridiculous. Many of these unionized jobs can be taken by immigrants and teens and young adults looking for seasonal/temporary employment. Can you imagine if all these young cats in the drug game could have an opportunity to actually get a construction gig? Can you imagine if we could actually upgrade our infrastructure without out having to pay billions per mile in old school pensions?

At the end of the day, the market has changed. There's no room for unions in their current form.

:heh: With my eyes closed, fat boy. I'm not you - getting out of bed isn't a work-out for me:heh:

I worked one summer doing siding and roofing on homes. It was the most labor intensive, hard work i ever did in my life. I would come home sunburnt and physically exhausted. I got nothing but respect for people who do that day in and day out well into retirement age. shyt is not easy, and its essential work that ppl need done. Sanitation, construction, plumbing-these are essential jobs ppl need. I never had so much respect for sanitation workers until my house was destroyed in Sandy and they were the ppl id see every day helping ppl out. Real talk fukk u if u dont respect ppl who do physical labor.

I get what you're saying but that doesn't have anything to do with the point I was making. Dude was generalizing blue collar workers as dumb and saying anyone can do their jobs. I was simply pointing out how stupid that way of thinking is.

Who the fck are you to talk about what somebody "deserves"? This is a free market homie, you get what you can negotiate and leverage. Elites operate in their interests daily, but somehow its obscene for the working man to do the same.

Corporation elites got you weaklings shook. They have extracted the wealth of workers to the point where the top 20% now own over 80% of the wealth, but since you guys are so angst-ridden over pleasing them and keeping your lil position, you attack other working men like a bunch of trained monkeys. Get your head outta your ass.

I feel what you're saying and yes, I do believe that there needs to be regulations put into place that check corporate/management greed and promote a more fair distribution of profits but as you said, it's a free market. It's not sustainable to pay inflated wages for servcies that can be done for a lot cheaper.

Unions cost Michigan workers jobs. Not just blue collar jobs, but all the jobs that go to support a thriving manufacturing base. We could have had a second manufacturing renaissance in the last decade but instead the Big 3 went bust and all the jobs went to the South or overseas.

Perhaps a lot of these guys should take up coding. As it stands we have to import coders from overseas. All the new manufacturing jobs are very highly skilled tech positions. I would support allocating government funds for new skills training.
