Well let's see, you believe that people who come here illegally aren't breaking the law. The poster you quoted @nyknick even did his best newspeak rendition by saying it's not "illegal," just "unlawful," and that there's a difference....even though a cursory dictionary reference will show that they mean the same thing. You believe that the people who came here illegally and have been living here for years should just be allowed to stay. No fines, no punishment, no accountability....just "hey, thanks for coming and skipping the line, enjoy America!!"
So based off this, how are you not advocating for open boarders?
I'm sympathetic to the point where I think that those who have been here illegally, either by crossing the border, or by overstaying their visas, and have been here for years and are contributing to society should be allowed to stay, but their wages should be garnished for a set amount of time - somewhere in excess of 10-15 years. The rest should be sent back immediately. Why do we make fathers pay child support? Accountability, right? So what's the problem?
What? You don't know what I believe so stop it.
Again, this is why discussions on politics have become so toxic. One side strawmans, or misrepresents the other's argument, or reframe it to be about something that it's not (i.e., providing funding & services for illegals at the expense of American soldiers).
I'm trying real hard here to give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not intentionally arguing in bad faith. But for future reference, it's really bad form to tell someone, whom you don't even know or barely spoke to, what they believe off bat.
