Woke leftist culture imported from US is ‘racialising’ France, causing splits in society and holding back ethnic minorities, says President Macron
  • President Macron said French society is becoming increasingly 'racialised'
  • He pointed the blame at feminists and black rights activists for 'intersectionality'
  • A new wave of young French activists are becoming increasingly socially vocal
  • But critics argue their focus on race is opening unnecessary divisions in France
  • Macron's comments come ahead of French presidential elections in April

An imported woke leftist culture is 'racialising' France, causing splits in society and holding back ethnic minorities, President Emmanuel Macron has claimed.

Macron said the political left's insistence on defining their countrymen by their ethnicity and depicting them as victims is causing rifts, and blamed social science ideas that have come from the United States.

'I see that our society is becoming progressively racialised,' Macron told Elle magazine in an interview published this week, going on to say that he believed ethnic minorities have been placed 'under house arrest' by left-wing ideology.

He also pointed blame at feminists and black rights activists for seeking to define people according to their gender and their skin colour, arguing that such views cause rifts in French society and limit social mobility among ethnic minorities.

A new generation of younger French activists are increasingly vocal in denouncing the problem of racism in France and the legacy of the country's colonial past in Africa and the Middle East.

But their opponents see the focus on race and the past as opening up unnecessary divisions and encouraging a culture in which minorities and women see themselves as constantly oppressed and discriminated against.

Movements against racism over the last year such as Black Lives Matter, which resonated in France after arriving from the US, have led to fears among some critics that the country is importing American racial and identity politics sometimes labelled as 'woke culture.'

Emmanuel Macron says woke leftist culture is 'racialising' France, causing splits in society

@mbewane what's going on here. You voting for Macron? :patrice:

Nope...I'm not French, I just live here :lolbron:

This is nothing new, France has always been about dictating what they consider as the "right" way to live in society and adress issues, which obviously is always the white way and absolutely not listening to the people concerned. Elections are next year so Macron needs to get those extreme-right/right votes especially with Zemmour gaining traction. And any new way of analysing/criticizing discriminations has the establishment up in arms, so they always use some new vague word to attack whoever doesn't agree with them. Last year it was "islamo-gauchiste" ("islamo-leftist"), which doesn't mean shyt (but bears a lot of ressemblance with "judeo-bolchevique", which was used in the late 19th early 20th century, against Jews and communists), this year it's the so-called "woke" culture. The former was pointing the finger at the left and muslims, the latter is also pointing the finger at the left (who else?) and anyone involved in anti-discrimination, with the advantage that it can be presented as something "imported from the US", so inherently "un-french". Which is always a go-to move by french politicians when they don't like something : saying it's "imported".

Ironic coming from a white supremacist sycophant like yourself

Right wing Macron too light in the pants for you?

WTF are you talking about? You are calling Macron Right Wing, in his country he is a Liberal. Do you remember who he ran against? Marine Le Pen, an extreme right winger.

I was mocking the Liberal Macron with his latest take. This shows once again that "Both Sides" are full of shyt and defend White Supremacy.

Smart dummy trying to call me MAGA.

Most people here consider Macron at best centre-right, but he's really on the right. The definition of "Liberal" isn't the same in Europe/France, over here it means basically means a partisan of right-wing economics, "free" market, competition over everything, less social help, less regulation, etc.

I think in the US when people use "Liberal" they mean being for progressive social and societal measures, which is France is what we call "Progressistes". Macron is obviously not in that category.

When push comes to shove, white politicians will look out for their own people. They are cool with tolerating black folks talking about race until they start having to pay up or losing major benefits and then their true colors come out quick. All of those allies you think you have are only your allies because they benefit from your struggle, but the minute they don't, you'll see the real them.

'Whites must keep quiet when racism is discussed'

Not apart of the "anti woke" mob(no matter how much i disagree with the left, im never linking up that crowd), but i do think this bs(outside of personal discussions anyways). Know/learn how to debate. Plus i definitely see other groups coopting this to silence us.

Well when contrasted by Marine Le Pen dude is a flaming Liberal. Supporting Free Market and capitalism is also a staple of U.S. Liberals.
