Call it what you want....DOOM ain't going to top his material from the 99 to 2005, that when he was at his best, creative & sharpest with the PEN...

No "Prime" in Rap...:mindblown:

I guess RZA can just do his 93 to 97 run if he just wanted to, i mean he won't blow out of a knee making beats :russ:

Can't wait for Ice Cube new shyt brehs, he's going to be back on that AmeriKKKa Most Wanted tip :ohlawd:

Inspectah Deck just announced a new album right? shyt watch him have better verses on there then CREAM & Triumph :whew:

:childplease:

Your Nas comparison isn't logical too because Nas is the 1 or 2% of the rappers who out of there prime are still be able to make top quality music

Comparing somebody who's making their best music currently to somebody who's not even interested in making music is ILLOGICAL...

Compare prime for prime, album for album...Gibbs is my G but he ain't coming CLOSE....

People say RZA, etc. fell off though....that's the difference. Nobody in their right mind would argue otherwise.

This ain't a scenario like Andre 3000....where he stopped rapping in his prime, of his own volition....then drops a :wow: verse once every 3-4 years....DOOM's best material was 15 years ago and he continued to rap. He's dropped multiple verses in the last 6 months. And none of them set the world on fire. Hell, on one song he got washed by Gibbs.

So yeah....DOOM fell off.

Fred.

What Gibbs is saying is that he’s now a better rapper than Doom was in his prime. I think that’s where the controversy lies.

He just said "I can out rap dude". He never broke it down further than that. I don't think he meant DOOM's entire career because he said he wanted his output with Madlib to be on the same level as "Madvillainy". He'd have no reason to say that if he thought he was better at every point of DOOM's run.

But i have no issue about DOOM falling off though...:yeshrug:

It's you comparing somebody who's arguably in their prime to somebody who's past their best by a mile ...

The logic doesn't make sense...

That's why i said compare them when they both at their best & if you do that, Gibbs ain't coming close :manny:

Nah. He flat said “im a better rapper than dude. But he put out a great project and I wanna put out a project as good as his..”. He’s basically saying he’s just flat better at rapping than Doom at all stages. He just wanna get to his level when it comes to projects.

Jay Z could do it....:umad:....

I'm glad you mentioned this because:

1. A few rappers could. Or would at least try. It wouldn't be a thread full of fans talking about :damn: "b bu but he's past his prime!"

2. Gibbs is humble about certain rappers. People been praising Pusha T's verse nonstop, he didn't blurt out "but I'm better!"....people said Black Thought washed him on "Extradite" and he never took offense....Gibbs said he could never compare to someone like Jay-Z, on any level....

Cats are acting like a Vice Lord from Gary, Indiana is supposed to have MF DOOM on some kind of pedestal. If not for meeting Madlib I doubt Gibbs would even know who the fukk MF DOOM is.

I understand that but if he was using DOOM's best shyt as the yardstick for his work with Madlib, then clearly he understands what he was working towards. If him being better than DOOM was a given in his mind, then he'd have no reason to give it any thought.

That's what some in here is not understanding. He clearly implied that.

That’s cause he flat out separated Doom’s emcee skills vs his ability to make a dope project. He feels like DOOM’s ability to make a dope project is better than his rap skills.

Uh....I dunno man.

It would be like saying "I'm a better director than Kubrick, I just hope I can make a better movie than him."

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree because that doesn't make any sense to me.

It makes perfect sense to me. For instance. Someone like Curren$y who has a classic project with Alchemist in Covert Coup. shyt that project kinda started Gibbs on his path working with those kinda producers honestly. From a technical standpoint there’s def people nicer than Curren$y. Even tho I feel like he’s an underrated emcee. But I dont feel they are better at making projects than he is. There’s rappers who can rap better than their music. There’s rappers who make better music than they rap. And then there’s the one’s who are masters at both. Gibbs obviously feels DOOM makes better music than he can rap.

What the fukk does sonically relevant mean :dead:
You tell me because that's not even what I typed. :heh:

I think I understand why Gibbs is winning this poll...y'all would have something in common with an anti vaxxer
