Socialist right?

Haven't been keeping up with the French...
Only thing socialist in him was that he was part of the last government. Otherwise he's center-right.

Le Pen lost?
She just didn't win the 1st round but she qualified for the 2nd by being 2nd. And even if she did win that 1st, she mathematically can't win the 2nd round.

Pepe pissed

He's right in the 2nd post but I'm not a fan of the whole "if this candidate had dropped my candidate would've gotten all their votes!" especially in a system like France's with lots of parties.

WHAT THE POLLS SAY

The two pollsters IPSOS and TNS Sofres both put centrist Macron and far-right Le Pen through to the second round on May 7, but their numbers varied.

According to Ipsos had Macron at 23.7 percent of the vote, Le Pen took 21.7.

According to TNS Sofres, both Le Pen and Macron took 23 percent of the vote.

HAMON CONCEDES, ENDORSES MACRON

The Socialist candidate Benoît Hamon spoke to his audience after winning only 6-7 percent of the first round vote. He said: “The left is not dead.”

He also put his support behind the centrist candidate. “I call to beat the far right by voting for Macron.”

REACTION FROM MELENCHON HQ

Sophie Rauszer, a Mélenchon staffer, said: “We did by far the best campaign.” Another campaign volunteer refused to concede, saying: “We are not sure of the results as it depends on polling stations.” Right now everyone is head down, touching their phones vigorously. Data connnection is very slow, including for the TVs in the headquarters.

I don't know who this dude is but the few posts somebody quoted in this thread was hella biased and had a huge conspiracy theory feel in them. No wonder he was rooting for Fillon as he was the only legitimate threat to people who don't fukk with the right. Le Pen doesn't stand a chance in the 2nd round.

EDIT : I'm being dumb. This dude name is Pepe and he supports Melenchon lol.

Melenchon and Fillon aren't conceding. They're waiting for the results to come in.

My bad, I read it too fast and thought he was Pro-Russia and therefore Pro-Fillon.

White House: Trump isn’t supporting Le Pen in French election
‘He certainly doesn’t have a preference, other than a right-of-center person who believes in the free market,’ he says.

President Donald Trump is not supporting the French far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, the White House chief of staff said on Sunday.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Reince Priebus was asked whether a Trump tweet last week suggested he wants Le Pen to win the presidential election that is under way.

“No, not at all,” Priebus said. “I think he may have some opinions, as far as who he thinks might win. But he certainly doesn’t have a preference, other than a right-of-center person who believes in the free market.”
French citizens on Sunday have been voting in a first-round election for president. Opinion polls suggest centrist Emmanuel Macron and far-right leader Marine Le Pen are favorites to qualify for the runoff on May 7, but conservative ex-prime minister François Fillon and far-left candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon are also in contention.
