Yes, that's what I tried to tell everybody in this thread : Pecresse, Raffarin, Fillon and other Républicains are already calling their followers to vote against Le Pen and results aren't definite yet. Voting FN still has taboo on it and that's why Le Pen never had a chance to win this election.

See, the problem here is that Le Pen is only 48.

She's not going anywhere.

You're just kicking this can down the road.
It's true. But her father never went anywhere and still couldn't make it. I think time will make her appear more and more legitimate unfortunately as new voters (born in the 2000s and later) wouldn't have grown up with a demonized FN as the older and current gens did. I think by 2027, she will truly stand a chance.

I think my original inclination that rise of far-right has always been overstated is supported by the results. The major parties undoubtedly are in crisis, but that doesn't automatically mean it will result in widespread far right support.

Brehs keep talking about how the polls were "wrong" on Trump/Clinton to justify why they think Le Pen can win, yet they were right on the money today.

Macron will be President. The more relevant question at this point is what happens during the legislative elections, considering he has no party and the SP has taken a big defeat today.
