I'm not even all that big on dealing for Butler (though I'm not gonna shed tears if LaVine and Dieng have to go). I'd keep the pick since that magical vet isn't gonna be there, but Thibs will want a Dunn or Hield because they should contribute nowNot about kicking the can. Its rare to be able to count on a young guy before his 3rd year. And by count on I mean a guy playing real minutes on a real, playoff caliber team. Our core guys are young and its beneficial to have other players that will be able to contribute in a few years as well instead of surrounding them with older guys and going through the cycle of vets like Cleveland and OKC have had to do. Remember this is probably their last opportunity to get a potential high level talent through the draft so you aim for talent. This 5th pick could POTENTIALLY be the 3rd, 4th or 5th guy for this team. The Ibaka/Adams guy. You need 3-6 guys with real talent to win at the highest levels and if the Wolves make the playoffs they won't have anymore lottery picks. GSW has an 11 (Klay) 2 7s (Barnes, Curry,) a 1 (bogut) and a 9 (iggy). OKC has a 2, a 4, a 24 (Ibaka which is rare) and a 12 (Adams) and also leveraged the 3 pick (Harden) into assets. Point is you have 1 more chance to add a player who could potentially be a high level player so unless you get a great offer I think you have to do it.
Plus the idea of trading for Butler means you have the worst shooting backcourt in the league and almost HAVE to trade Rubio for a shooter
