I wouldn't mind her being like her pops. Pure grappler with a mix of reversals and some ground and pound.

If her X-Ray is any indication of her playstyle, I can see her bein' rushdown heavy in one variation, a grapple in one, and a zoning type in another with her pop's ground pound and energy bolt stuff.

And it seems to be past the violence "gimmick" as well. The combo engine seems proper. Those guys from NRS have been showing some nice stuff with Ermac and Scorpion as of late.

I hate to use the word "gimmick" with Mortal Kombat, the violence is definitely their trademark but people have always bytched about it being just makeup, but it has developed nicely over the years.
