These are factually incorrect statements and horrible stereotypes. Japan is barely even in the top ten for most hours worked both weekly and even yearly. The US does more work than they do and arguably South Korea and Mexico are the most egregious global offenders. Japan is actually doing slightly more hours of work than Canada, which is typically viewed as a good work-environment country.
Those japan stereotypes were born from anecdotes, not stats.
I used to think the same until i was corrected by an actual Japanese person. They actually find this kinda offensive, similar to how Js dont like money stereotypes or we dont like crime stereotypes.
