So he had a free ride to get a college education, went to the NBA, made $4 million dollars, and he's 7+ feet tall. I'm supposed to feel bad about dude?

:mjlol:

Hopefully with his story coming out Colorado works something out with him so that he can get his degree.
will that even help? hes gone a few years without any real world work, and has documented drug problems. hes way behind the eight ball in terms of getting quality work. if he cant land anything as is to the point where he was at mickey fukking d's workin, i dont see what would be different for him with a degree. for the life of me ill never understand a cat who makes that type of bread and is making fukking house payments. id buy a place outright, just to have in case shyt does go t*ts up. at least you have a roof over your head thats paid for. make 7 figures and be "fighting to keep your house" a few years later brehs

He's got to be a head case to not be in the league in 8 years. In a league devoid of talented 7 footers it is hard to believe he couldn't at least been someone's 12th man all these years. So it's got to be more to the story then him not getting along with a coach and for a little weed.

$4.4 million........am I supposed to feel bad for him? Even after taxes that's more money than the vast majority of American FAMILIES will make over a 30 year stretch.
Yep. After taxes he could have spread that money out to about 100k a year for 30 years.

This is the generation of people who will realize that as long as youre relying on someone else, whether that be a corporation like mcdonalds or an nba team, or your parents or your homies or whomever, you will get screwed. You need to make yourself into something so that people cant take anything away from you, and from a young age.

People in here talking about being dumb at 24? There are plenty of hard working 20 year old black men who make decisions knowing we are one mistake from being on the street. No one owes you shyt.

There is another component to this though. That 4.4 million? He probably saw about a mil of that. His agent and the tax man made off well though. There will always be someone looking to take from you. This is America.

His story sucks but I dont feel bad. I spent 1pm yesterday to 4pm today locked in a lab finishing a project for my operating systems class, went home, showered and went to a start up networking event. He left school to pursue something he wasnt good enough at. Education is forever.

16 credits equates to one damn semester. I find it very hard to believe he can't find a way to finance 1 semester.

Also find it very hard to believe he can't find a job. Sounds like he has an intelligent mind, and is an ex NBA player. There's no way he's on the grind, putting out applications, following up, and marketing himself correctly then. He could certainly get an entry level sales position in many different fields.
