Crazy that cities in the States are competing by basically paying Amazon just for them to create a new load of working poor and depressed wages there :scust:

Although the UK has one of the highest portions of low paid workers in the “developed” world, so it’s not a surprise. Everyone goes in on America’s working poor but Britain is fukked in this regard, too. No wonder Bezos has gone there, it’s just a colder version of his corporatist hell

Some of the comments here are disgusting. One of the reason I am always learning new technical skills. It pains me and motivates me when I go into Krogers late and see people packing shyt for super low wages. Even then I can still get the short end of the stick. Not everyone can Engineers, Doctors, Nurses etc. etc. or any high paying career. Capitalism is trash. I don't give a shyt about no two day shipping.

crazy thi is why you ned unions
Yeah but most folks soon as they get a union think they got a get out of jail free card and abuse the power. It's sad really. You can't save people from themselves. They either get abused or abuse the system... Then jobs get shipped to places that don't give a fukk about human rights.

Used to be a manager at Amazon. I know just about everything about them slave centers. From ship, pick, stow, pack, sort, and icqa. That "idle time" he talking about is called "time off task". The article dont even tell you the half of it. That place is sad.

This why I'm glad i'm in IT now. My next step was going back to moving boxes. fukk that bullshyt. Only weight I wanna move is in the gym. Nothing wrong with manual labor, but

these places take major advantage of you, and its even worse with jobs disappearing in other industries. Folks have little choice.

Real shyt. Union was the real deal when I was apart of one. Getting raises just because. Protections from management fukk shyt.
How long did it take you to get into IT brother?

100 per hour :gucci: That's averaging over 1 per minute.

Fam it’s easy af. I may be in the minority but that job was cake once you got use to the walkin. I was averaging damn near 150 picks by my 3rd day. Say you get an order for 20 games of 2k, you’d go to the bin it’s at, scan em, & that’s it. That’s 20 picks in like 30 seconds. shyt may have changed cuz I was there back in 2012 & I would love to be back. I was getting ready to be hired on but failed my drug test & they haven’t fukked with me since :wow:

At amazon cellphones weren't allowed in the building and you were timed during your off time. 30 minutes of accumulated time, throughout the day not scanning something is a write up. Everything was done using scanners and computers so they knew exactly how long you take between units. Slacking off at Amazon was harder than a lot of other warehouses unless you were a supervisor.
This is why I don't really respect the people who get comfortable at jobs like those
