When R Kelly stopped singing and started talking/quasi rapping over songs (Ignition, Thoia Thong, Hotel etc). Likes of Chris Brown, Trey Songz emulated him and eventually the genre devolved to this truly mediocre era where the Weekend, Bryson Tiller & PND are perceived as vanguards

When all the R&B artists started to venture into that David Guetta fist pump in the club sound circa 2009

Also T Pain in 2006 with the techno hybrid sound of Timbaland of Justin Timberlake second album done classic RnB in. The "new blacks" wanted nothing to do with the traditions of old, so they embraced the feminine David Guetta lame disco/ techno sound for the club.

Also the trap phase of rap killed it. 06 onward was the real great depression for black music. Now black couples don't have anything to play at on their weddings outside of old music. Very unnatural progress music wise.

Once "thugs" became the new sex symbol...

I also have another theory dealing with R. Kelly. It's weird because he's a legend when it comes to R&B...but he's a pervert.
...his writing became more and more overtly sexual until it was corny. I think he wrote for a lot of artist that over-sexualized the genre ...

It's funny, the decline of R&B seems to parallel the decline of compassion in the community.:jbhmm:
