Adelson/Dumont - lacked the pull with Dan Patrick to get a casino in Texas. He can win without GOP money, so the Lieutenant Governor can't be bought off by some out-of-town Joos unless he just wants free cash. They're cheap and didn't want to give Luka a supermax....and they have no desire to keep the Mavs here without the new casino/arena. They also jacked up ticket prices on season ticket holders....TODAY right before Kyrie got hurt.

Nike - Luka on the Lakers would be like Saquon AND Mahomes on the 2021 to 2023 Cowboys. Yeah Philly and KC are on top, but nothing prints money like a damn good Cowboys team with star-power. Nike had that Luka commercial ready to go.

Adam Silver - with Bron getting to the end, the Lakers needed a bona-fide superstar. Knecht/Reeves aren't on THAT level. NBA loves New York and Los Angeles. Texas already got Wemby with SGA not that far away. West Coast has Sac plus old azz stars on the Clips and Warriors.

Nico - ??? Honestly the deal makes no sense from his end....if we assume the goal is to win rings. You either keep Luka or ransom him for the biggest haul possible. He clearly wasn't aiming for the fences which means he was told to make that shyt happen and take all the heat. If this was for Giannis, it would be more logical. Great 2-way player that has generally been healthy. AD is both older than Luka AND more injury prone.
