this place never had the culture that was cultivated on SOHH...if you a SOHH'g, this second move is a triple stepped on package.

the coli lost a bit in its move from SOHH, lost even more from 2016-now between bans, running people off, folks who stopped posting (or passed ), closed registration, and some of the weird internet culture that some folks doubled down on, any new site is even more watered down.

this is not true. one of the pros for dapcity is that a lot of that shyt gets moderated over there. what is true is that some of the folks that were banned over here and/or lost access to their coli log-in info - have made accounts/started over over there (also, open registration, which is a must for a new site) whether these are good things long-term remains to be seen

This is a major con for Dap City and a big reason it would be hard to gain traction.

every iteneration away from SOHH gets weaker and weaker.

SOHH was really about whatever...
this site is a step down where folks get in their feelings and bush/ban folks.

Dap City gets even worse...
what you end up with is a unfunny stale place where everybody is alike.

Once brook and cook said the site was up, Sohh was a ghost town by the end of the week. Sohh didn't have to completely die for people to move over.

Thecoli hasnt officially been 'axed', the site owner doesn't respond, etc and there is no singular official successor

Dapcity is the de facto successor

I don't think they're against you calling out whatever. The term "YN" though is associated with not the most civil of behaviors, but I don't think that's why they got on you. They wanted you to verify that you're a black poster for context for your use of that term because those negative connotations with the possibility of you not being black would then translate to "anti-black"

A bit unfare to compare Dap City to the Coli right now
Dap City started like late 2025. Of course Dap City doesn't have the "community and a place you go on habit and routine" compared to the Coli that was around for 14 years, when Dap City has not even been around 14 months

I been on the Coli since it started. It was not this "amazing community" until about year 2 or 3. Year 1 Coli was rough and the wild west lol. That's why there was a running joke on "2012 posters". Dap City not even a year in, and already on to a great start

Ehh, thecoli in the early days was pretty much community out the gate given it was mostly a SOHH migration. As for being the Wild West, that’s what a bunch of posters, and founders, wanted after feeling over-moderated on SOHH…Dap City has posters who felt this place was under-moderated, you can’t look back at it in 2036 and call that a bad thing if that’s what the posters want.

sohh was a 100% hiphop site, if we keeping it a buck coli got big cause of the porn in jbo (which low key was holding up a big part of sohh at the time)

this was before streaming porn became big

im not really sure what dc is other than a backup forum for now. i think @thaKEAF seem like a pretty good admin so its a wait and see thing with how it matriculates

We're not going to agree. I think moderation - in moderation - is a plus. Too many a times where TheColi has been a lawless place, which is partially why it has turned into this echo chamber of some of the worst internet behaviors. For all the talk about moderation turning a place stale and everybody being alike, the lack of moderation has a similar effect - you click on TLR on a random day if not 500 "pawg" threads it will be 211 "tether/fba/tariq nasheed" threads with the same posters pushing the same narratives even if anchored by the most inconsequential things like a random tweet by a random nobody with 2 likes

Moreover, DapCity has gained traction/is gaining traction. TheColi currently has 770 members online right now, DapCity was at just over 200 when I last checked. Prior to this last blackout that TheColi had for like 3 or 4 days - when I checked - TheColi had like +2000 members online at a time whereas DapCity was struggling to be at over 100.
