Forget that essay-length smart-dumb psychoanalysis that that Nas fanboy posted, it was all the fakkit-homo talk that got under Jay's skin(in my opinion of course). That's the line that he's referring to that was crossed. Offline, that kind of talk is automatic fighting(Ima see you) words. If you analyze Takeover you'll see that while it's harsh it's not really personal. He basically attacked Nas the emcee. With Ether, Nas took it all the way there and went in on dude's manhood.

As far as the interview, Jay is obviously flustered here but I don't get why people try to paint it as if he was the only one who was touched? Nas just didn't sit down for an interview after hearing Takeover, he went on the low for a few months. All you have to do is listen to Ether though

"I've been fukked over, left for dead, dissed and forgotten
Luck ran out, they hoped that I'd be gone, stiff and rotten
Y'all just piss on me, shyt on me, spit on my grave (uh)
Talk about me, laugh behind my back but in my face
Y'all some "well wishers," friendly acting, envy hiding snakes
With your hands out for my money, man, how much can I take?

When these streets keep calling, heard it when I was sleep
That this Gay-Z and Cockafella Records wanted beef
Started cocking up my weapon, slowly loading up this ammo
To explode it on a camel, and his soldiers, I can handle
This for dolo and it's manuscript, just sound stupid
When KRS already made an album called Blueprint
First, Biggie's ya man, then you got the nerve to say that you better than Big"

There he is telling us that he was touched "emotionally". You have to remember, a lot of people wrote Nas off after Takeover dropped. Even a lot of Nas's diehard fans who had been anticipating this battle with Jay for years were saying it was a wrap for Nas. That shook him up too. These guys aren't super heroes people, they're human beings. They have feelings and emotions just like everybody else.

I see.

So Jay Z's problem is that the cut that ended up on Nas' album was the personal diss while Jay Z's personal diss SuperUgly wasn't on Blueprint

Jay was too shook for me to understand it sounded like he was talking bout somethin he did then it turned to what Nas did.

Did Superugly come after ETHER?

Nas was on the low for a good while even before Takeover dropped, between Nastradamus' poor reception and his mother being very ill. Takeover had nothing to do with it.

In the Firm I learned I Am NaStradamus
QB's Finest, Oochie Wally, faced more problems
I gave it all up so I can chill at home with mama
She was getting old and sick so I stayed beside her
We had the best times, she asked would I make more songs
I told her not til I see her health get more strong
In the middle of that, Jay tried to sneak attack
It didn't take Nas 3 months to respond to Jay's "ask Nas, he don't want it..." stunt at Summerjam that year with his Stillmatic freestyle. Nice try though.

"Supa Ugly" was a reaction that's why is was rushed and emotional and gained no traction in NY. NaS never had to respond to "Supa Ugly" cause it was wack. Jay was trying to hard to be controversial and took the Pac route with the whole "I f@cked your girl" which is basically sloppy 2nds. I'll never forget how Hot 97 was hyping up Jay's response and he treated that joint like it was a mixtape song rapping over that Knockternal beat. It was embarrassing. You don't respond to "Ether" with a mixtape diss that's another reason Jay lost the battle. "Supa Ugly" was so weak for a rapper of his caliber. The only lines I'll give from "Supa Ugly" was the condoms in the baby seat and the "In the Pink Suit trying to look cute" only cause it was funny and people were clowing NaS for copying Deniro "Casino" with the pink suit in 96. That was symbolism that NaS has sold out back then. Even then the song as a whole was just a mess.

"too eager you lose
focus, plan your attack, then you move" Nas: The General

Pretty much jay-z was fukked the second he dropped that track and he didnt even know it.

nas took 4 months of ppl sayin he was done, washed up etc and he didnt care. stuck with the plan

when ether dropped, jay came out with a sloppy, rushed, and emotional reply in super ugly like a day or so later. he couldnt handle everybody saying he got bodied

The lines that I highlighted in Ether say that he did care.

I don't know why that you would say that. I don't see a problem with how either of them dealt with their emotions. Nas was running around real emotional at that time. Dude was throwing all types of temper tantrums, dissing cats for no reason. He felt like the world had turned on him, even ran to those Murder Inc cats for temporary back up. I was just setting things straight.

when i say he "didnt care: i mean he didn't react to it right away. the public was saying all types of bad things about him, saying he was done, got killed etc and pressuring him to respond. but he just chilled for 4 months and dealt with it.

when da roles were reversed, jay-z was crying on the radio da next day and puttin out forced diss tracks.

if you listen to the nas/flex interview, nas was laughing bout the situation without a care in da world. He only got emotional after the battle was already done and that's because hot 97 was fukking with him, most likely on behalf of jay. he was more pissed off about their bias if anything.

I disagree, and your "sloppy seconds" comment exposes your bias. Rappers have always bragged about bagging the next man's girl, even Nas
"excuse me, is that your bytch in my 6
turning up the volume when she hear my hits?" Nas- How ya Livin

Bagging the next man's girl didn't become frowned upon as "sloppy seconds" until it happened to Nas and his fanboys decided to spin that into not being a L. A rival or enemy bagging your girl has always been an L regardless of what these internet cats say. Nas knows that
"Nas need a queen not a hoe to point out my enemies,
a girl who's into me but not a hype chick someone with proper energy
someone who's into me but won't fukk with my enemies" Nas-Hey Nas

There's nothing wrong with Supaugly. It was just too laid-back to be an instant response to Ether. Public perception and bandwagon mentality aside, the disses in Takeover, Supaugly, Is that Yo bytch are much more damaging than the disses in Ether, Stillmatic freestyle, Eye for an Eye in my opinion.

I just don't put any weight in people's opinion when they try to judge who "won" based on who got emotional. They both got emotional, they both got touched. Obviously Nas was going to put on a front like "he didn't have a care in the world" but common sense tells you that it wasn't really like that. His rival had bagged his daughter's mom and was throwing it in his face. Too much cheerleading involved in these discussions which is sad because it's been 10+ years at this point. Nas got emotional long before the battle was over. He was salty about people turning on him and writing him off after Takeover dropped. He threw a temper tantrum because they wouldn't let him hang Jay in effigy at Summerjam. I say F "emotion" and just debate the music/lyrics.

your entitled to your opinion, but its a horrible one:russ:
almost everybody agrees that super ugly minus a couple lines is garbage. huge downgrade from takeover and a even worst response to ether. he shoulda just took the round 1 L, and dropped a proper response on blueprint 2.

takeover was no where near damaging as ether, :russ: im starting to think your a jay stan. there wasnt any cheerleading, jay had the machine behind him and just dropped a classic. most ppl wanted him to win, angie sounded depressed as fukk reading the results and hot 97 had a takeover show in his honor. it was just a unanimous decision W for nas

and again, nas was salty and emotional at hot 97 for playin favourites. we all no if jay wanted to hang nas, there would be NO issue

Think about somebody in your profession/craft/whatever that you truly admire, and this person has had a real influence on how you do what you do...

Putting all the financial success aside, you want this person to respect you as an ARTIST like him (not all that fake "I like him because he is a good businessman/hustler garbage), basically your soul needs this person to validate your craft, and put his stamp of approval on it...You need this happen...

So you make attempts to collaborate and break bread with your "artistic hero," and you have all money in the world to make this happen...

Unfortunately, this person rejects you...Over time you become bitter, and when you reach the height of your popularity in the game, you start thinking to yourself, "F+ck him, I am rich, I am the hottest thing right now, I can destroy this person, everybody loves me"

So, You go on a full out war with this person, and instead of you getting the best of him, he exposes your true identity, and the useless motive for this beef...

He reminds you that even with all the financial success you have, he is still your father, and he can spank you whenever he wishes, because ARTISTICALLY, you are still not on his level, and to make matters worse, the public agrees with him...

To understand why "Ether" is so effective, you have to think about it this way...

Look at what is happening with the Muslims and Jews, it is because of "Ether" a.k.a rejection from somebody you admire and respect...

Have you read "The Great Gatsby" that's another example of why the theme of "Ether" is so effective...

Have you watched "Casino" DeNiro was in love with Sharon Stone's character and willing to give her everything she wanted, but she rejected him for some no good loser, again, this why the theme of "Ether" is so effective...

If you don't understand why "Ether" is so "vulgar" and demoralizing, thank your fortune, because people who have felt it know how deeply it hurts...

It burns the soul...

Jay stans reading this like :damn: :wow: :sadcam:
