TikTok music got anybody blowing up. It reminds me of

Steve Lacy is an ok artist but this shyt killed his chances of blowing up. I’d imagine nobody knows anything other than that one like on the million dollar baby song. He will see it too if he ever tours.

Is a plant but looking forward to the album. From the other songs I heard this was a change in direction musically for them.

the industry plant shyt is so weird. I truly believe most people don’t know what that term actually means.

The song is hot because it’s catchy as hell, nothing else sounds like it and it caught fire on tik tok.
And he's Brent Faiyaz artist, of course he has a team to promote him

I like the song, but it's getting overplayed for sure.

The plant talk is crazy though. I think people just use that term to mean "I'm out of touch and don't keep up with new artists." Saying shyt like "he stole Brent Faiyaz sound" Like bro, if you actually listened to Brent Faiyaz you would have already made the association. I knew Tommy Richman from the Upset joint before Million Dollar Baby even dropped, and the news that Faiyaz signed him has been out there for like a year. These Gen Z kids who look at Faiyaz the way we looked at artists from our time were definitely checking for him based off that alone. The Young Gunz weren't organically bubbling so heavy that the radio had to pay attention. No, Jay Z signed them so we all tuned in. This is one of the most basic ways for an artist to get introduced to the mainstream.
Reminds me of when Goldlink dropped and people started saying "where did he come from?" While the young kids were already playing him for the last year or two before he hit big.

4Batz on the other hand... That guy legitimately came out of nowhere, with no history and no other artist backing him.
Great post :salute: 4Batz is a perfect comparison for a real industry plant.

Facts

The coli's main issue is they struggle with understanding the relevance of social media. So you hear things like "I only heard this song on tik tok"...

Not realizing that tik tok is probably the biggest platform in the world when it comes to promoting music. Radio and club play is practically irrelevant if social media isn't pushing your song.

“I don’t even know who Tommy Richman is..sounds like a shoe store”

:dead:

I don’t agree with Flex much but yeah dude is an obvious plant and the song is formulaic. Crazy to hear it’s getting play on Hot97
He’s signed to Brent Faiyaz label some years ago

what about this song makes it a plant song?

you hear an ode to 70s funk with falsetto singing and think plant?

you hear a modern musician using funk rhythms and funky synths and think this is trash?

people don't even be fans of music they are just fans of what they 'are supposed to like' for their peers to keep liking them.
That’s how the coli rationalizes how something becomes popular without the artist being in the source magazine

Sounds like Brent Fiayaz, just go listen to Legit Brent Faiyaz,brehs...

Also, dude has ZERO confidence in himself, he ain't gonna make it. You would've thought his homeboy was the One who made the song ...ole insecure ass Nygga .
