In terms of Hov...his entire image has always been built on being the guy who becomes an insider to help the culture. From becoming president of Def Jam to Roc Nation to Tidal to the NFL thing...this is how he sells himself. He's the agent of change who enters the beast and negotiates a fair deal for "us" - be they rappers (Def Jam) or athletes/celebs (Roc Nation) or artists (Tidal)...or black NFL fans. How you view this boils down to a couple things. How you view Hov as an honest broker, and how you view the concept of enacting change from within a broken system. In terms of the NFL, this always truck me as a Sharpton-type shake down where you demand a fee in exchange for absolving a white figure or organization. It's almost like money laundering, except you're laundering public perception and virtue.

So far Hov has used this agreement to fund questionable "social justice" groups that are run by whites and get J LO and Shakira the SB halftime headliner. Not really the best of results are they. Now he's helping Floyd get justice by paying lawyer fees. But going back to the broken system thing...we know that cop isn't going to jail. And by the time the verdict is read, well over a year from now, how many NFL checks will have been cashed by Hov/Roc Nation?
