So we gotta really analyze this..

A rapper receives a "reference track" from another rapper. He then uses the track and lyrics, only replacing the vocals.

Essentially exactly what Dr dre/Puffy does.

Do we now put drake in that category?

It's a bad look, but like I said in the other thread the people buying his music don't care, just go on Twitter. Our generation isn't going to start boycotting him now. This is as big a story as Drake wants to make it tbh.

Agreed. We can all talk about how wack it is and it's not Hip-Hop.

But the Drake army is in FULL EFFECT on Twitter. They really don't care weather he writes his rhymes or not. :yeshrug:

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
The rush to crucify Drake for having ghostwriters is amusing. For example, compare his situation to Nas's. I know this makes folks uncomfortable but stic and Jay Elec likely wrote for Nas on ******. I wonder if the same nikkas that was defending Nas are ready to put on that cape for Drake? :patrice: Now, I believe Nas was already a certified legend and hip-hop icon prior to that album and I don't question him as a lyricist given his history and body of work. So, I get the double-standard. But I don't get how we press rapper A for doing the same thing rapper B does all while defending rapper B. What makes us cast our judgment on some but not others? :ld:

Breh, you're speaking in hypotheticals. I'm using what is right in front of me.

And I'm :dead: at you asking why I'm going so hard at Drake....when you ain't even heard the reference track. :mindblown:

Fred.

They are hypotheticals to you because unless you hear it, you won't believe it. And I don't have to hear the track, I already know how a reference track normally goes. But I'm sure without hearing the reference track most people could have drawn this conclusion merely by looking at the album credits. You can do this for a lot of albums, some of which I'm sure a lot of you likely have in your top 5. :sas2: But continue thinking this is just a "Drake" thing.

I've always found Drake's path to stardom interesting as well as the perception of him and his greatness. If you follow his career, he's always been influenced by the people around him. The biggest jump was coming from Room for Improvement/ Comeback Season to So Far Gone. So it's not that much of a stretch to believe that he's gotten help with writing songs.

As a beatmaker/musician, I understand that collaboration is key in creating music so i aint really trippin off it, but the dynamic of Hip Hop is different than other genres. Rappers take alot of pride in their lyrics so for it to be revealed that you didn't write something you performed is a shot to your credibility with some fans.

Of course the ATL
So now it's justified because everyone's doing it? :laff: I'm so done.

We got the reference track for 10 Bands, where's the reference track for IDFWU? The Blacker the Berry? Where is the reference track for The White Shoes or Meek's verse on RICO? Nobody in the new school has gotten or will be exposed on this level, I wonder why?

You say it could happen to anyone, but you don't have any motherfukking facts. Drake, and everyone caping for that actor, gotta hold this L.

Breh you've already expressed your excitement in Drake's downfall today and on other occasions. So don't come at this like you're being impartial...just admit it, you're in it for the fukkery and you're happy that Drake's integrity is being called into question
