Artists of all talent levels get "help" and have writers. To what level that "help" is depends on the artist but words, slang, cadence, etc can come from anybody and be listed as "ghostwriting".

Now, I believe Nas was already a certified legend and hip-hop icon prior to that album and I don't question him as a lyricist given his history and body of work. So, I get the double-standard. But I don't get how we press rapper A for doing the same thing rapper B does all while defending rapper B. What makes us cast our judgment on some but not others?
