I’m not in the industry so I don’t know the specifics of how a lot of shyt works, but it seems as if Birdman just doesn’t like to pay unless he is forced to in a lot of situations. I don’t know if he tries nikkas with bad paperwork which makes it hard to collect, or flat out doesn’t pay, even when an artis has legit paperwork. That seems to be the case with Lil Wayne, which may be a different from the regular scenario cause it’s so much and it’s speculation that he just doesn’t have it.

He does this with producers a lot too. It has been artist on cash money whitouth any issues whatsoever when it came to payments/contracts, so who knows the rhyme and reason behind a lot of this shyt.

I mean if you legit get taken advantage of because of ignorance or stupidity it reall ain’t nobody fault. It’s just the game. If you knowingly sign some bad shyt trying to get on and regret it late, it’s your fault. You knew the risk. If you don’t understand something, and know it, and don’t get any assistance, then it’s your fault if you get jerked.

For the most part, most artist are not going to have many options, and when an opportunity presents itself, they have to weigh signing a shytty contract with “getting on” You gotta give up something to get something. Most artist are going to take that deal. If it works out, you complete your first deal, and have leverage to get a “real” deal (See Rick Ross)

If you self made, and can fund yourself, then you can do this shyt until the right deal comes along and bypass the usual bad first deal.

If you just super hot and killing shyt, then you can create a bidding war and get a decent deal (50 when he signed to Interscope)

Clearly Future couldn't and didn't put himself on so he signed paperwork to be funded by Rocko. Of course Rocko is gonna require a return on his investment and those weren't some little projects either. Artists always get mad when labels recoup, yet thet accepted all the promo and advances prior.

You can't just buy yourself out of a record label contract, ESPECIALLY if they haven't seen a return in their investment. Almost never happens. Name the artists who have truly done it.

I won't speak on it in detail, but just know Gotti's situation wasn't cut and dry, especially with TVT going bankrupt. It's more layers to it.

Mack 10, Teena Marie didn’t have issues I don’t think. They had a lot of artist on the roster over the years so I’m sure it was more. But you pretty much right cause most the core artist usually have issues

COULD... but he didn't... what he ended up doing was paying that nikka ZERO dollars back, and then tried to tell the world that he owed him NOTHING and wasn't paying him NOTHING...

fukk outta here with that shyt. what was rocko supposed to do? kill the nikka? so he could fight a case and/or get no money back? he sued him. future tried to fight some more to pay him NOTHING... didn't work.. now he's still paying 7 figures.. could be 1 mil could be 9,999,999.. we don't know

if you got a lawyer.. this happens all the time. i'd say 90% of rappers, got a local/small time deal at first, then got that bought out by a label. also 90% of the time, you never see or hear of that buyout, cause everyone agrees. what future did was try and sign somewhere else, and just make his local deal disappear.. nah

and most rappers on their local deal don't have no lawyer. they doing showcases they paying to be on... or the label owner is paying for them for you.. you ain't known anywhere. you don't have a hit at all... you ain't shyt and you broke

but the local dude pop up and offer you 50k for 2 albums, you don't give a fukk, sign sign sign... don't matter if he wants 30% of everything... shyt you ain't making shyt and what's $300 if you making $1000... then you blow up.. now you make a million and owe him 300k.. well what the fukk!!!! but you under contract, so you got no choice..
