nah.. not at all..

he probably listens to other music, has favorite artists, bands, etc.. why is that so hard to decipher..? not every rapper, listens to hip-hop.. it's not some cliche answer, it's a reality.. nothing more, or less..
So let me ask you, these rappers who say they dont listen to hip hop...you believe them? And you dont think future listens to any rap

every interview...when a rapper is asked who they listen to right now, or what upcoming mc's they respect etc..

the answer is always "i dont even listen to hip hop..." ...then they talk about how their album features just people their real friends with like 2 chainz, big sean, future...etc

Amen,I'm callin horseshyt...Kanye said it and ever since then nikkas been tryna act like they above just being a rapper:childplease:...Lupe said this same thing, than when that Control verse dropped had a awful lot to say about what should and shouldn't be in hiphop....far as I'm concerned if u wanna act like u above this shyt then u shouldn't have no say in hiphop matters:mjpls:...Future my nikka but he listen to hiphop:ufdup:...maybe he meant he don't listen to "hippityhop" shyt:heh:.

To be fair, that is his profession :yeshrug:

When most of you poor ass nukkas get home from scrubbing toilets or mopping floors all day, do you change clothes, pop the top on a #struggle bottle of cheap liquor, and start scrubbing your own toilets and mopping your floors at home? :ohhh:

maybe because they don't listen to hip-hop like y'all do..

y'all think folks sitting around waiting for singles, mixtapes and albums critiquing them with their friends all day & night..? :heh:
Nobody said all that, but to be all in the hip hop/rap scene then say you don't listen to the genre? Does this nikka never listen to a song he's on :wtf:

I could definitely believe most of these nikkas when they say they don't listen primarily to Hip-Hop. I've heard of a lot of top tier professionals not indulging in their "thing" as a passtime. Michael Jordan said he thought Basketball was boring to watch on TV...Tupac didn't listen primarily to Hip-Hop...Wayne talked about not knowing anything but singles from most nikkas...Jay said he doesn't listen to a lot of Hip-Hop...it's a hard thing for the average person to understand but it's definitely the truth.

For one Hip-Hop is a narcissistic job by nature so a lot of artists feel like "fukk these other nikkas anyway, I'm the shyt, no one can do it like me"...some don't want to psyche themselves out or become too derivative so they don't listen to other people....and some, once they invest so much of their own lives into making music just don't want to hear it at home. It's like how some girls say they're not even hungry right after they cook a big meal...Every MC isn't obligated to be some super Hip-Hop head...most of the artistically gifted just have tunnel vision. How often do you hear artists get genuinely stumped in interviews when they're asked who they listen to, and just name common names or their friends? You think that's to be trendy?

I could see where Future is running around doing this or that fulfilling his obligations as an artist and hasn't heard the track...I'm sure he came across the lines or the just of what Kendrick said from people close to him, but he probably didn't hear the whole thing. Why does anyone feel like he has to lie about that, it's not like he's that type of artist feels threatened or like he needs to compete with Kendrick lyrically or something.

He probably came up with that answer because he only wants to talk about his music and his albums. Why would you wanna spend the majority of your interview with the media talking about another artist? :mjpls:

:snoop: but Na I'm sure a Hip Hop artist doesn't listen to Hip Hop.
