not surprising a guy lilke Future isn't a heavy hip-hop listener in his free time nowadays.
he probably hears enough rap joints in the club, along with making and performing his own stuff it it wouldn't be surprising when he's away from it he's listening to all the oldies his moms was playing round the house that he grew up on.. Marvin, Smokey etc.
he would prolly rather be a flat out singer but being as he can't really sing and that rap gives him the platform to earn and make something of himself, stunt, be introspective and talk about his struggles along with crooning over the top to it.

Music is NOT the same thing. I have a hard time believing a musician saying he doesnt listen to music. Its not the same thing as a bball player saying he doesnt watch bball.. most people listen to music, whether its in the car, at home, at work or whatever. so future riding in his whip in silent? when hes flying doing shows he aint listening to any music on the plane? when he's chilling with the homies, theres never music playing?
I know that he said hiphop, and he could just be into other music. thats possible but this whole shtick of rappers saying that they dont listen to hiphop is a lie. I dont know a single musician that doesnt listen to music himself. thats why I salute drake, jcole and other young cats who can actually say they listen to other rappers and say whos hot or not.
