If the last season of Game of Thrones is as intense as it is foreshadowing to be, there may be no comparison between the two shows. GOT has always averaged more viewers then BB. Also GOT averages 11.2 million viewers per episode on all platforms. That means HBOGO etc. Also GOT is the most bootlegged TV series. GOT is definitely more popular then BB.

:ohhh: I've been meaning have a similar conversation of what is more popular #DemThrones or another AMC show "The Walking Dead". Might as well have it in this thread because it fits in with this converstaion.

Based on my Facebook & folks I know in real life, "The Walking Dead" is DEFINITELY seems to be a lot more popular than GoT. But, worldwide/internationally It's obvious GoT is more popular.

What y'all think?

To be fair people dress up as "BB" characters too....but they don't look as terrible and embarrassing.

I don't have "GoT" in my top 5 because they don't seem to have an exit strategy. 4 seasons in and GRR Martin is talking about :patrice:"it might go for 7 seasons, it might go for 10....we might do a movie or two"....shyt scares me. I don't know of a single show in TV history that went on for 8+ seasons, and got better or even maintained it's quality/popularity.

As a rule of thumb shows don't enter my top 5 until at least 4 seasons have aired, anyway.

That's not even close. Walking Dead is up there with NCIS and Dancing with the Stars in terms of viewers on fukking cable TV.

Edit: just caught where you said worldwide

true..but most people dressed as these characters on halloween .

that does scare me too. all this martin talk about the showing passing the books and the movie(s) scares me as well. i HATE the movie idea. only shows i know that actually got a movie were sex and the city, entourage and veronica mars.

i will say i think curb got better. its 8th season was its best..granted its a comedy but it is on hbo..at least its not on showtime which is known to milk its shows til they turn to shyt.

and i have enough faith in the source material thus far that i know s4 will be as good as the previous 3. :manny:

"Firefly" got a movie too.

I should have said "serialized TV show". "Curb" is great but it's basically Larry David writing whatever he wants. It's not as if he has to pay off story arcs or characters from the prior 7 seasons.

The main problem with a movie is, if you cater to the people that watch the show nobody else will watch it because they're not gonna know what the fukk is going on. And if you try to bring new fans in, you'll have to have a redudant "intro" for each character/plot point. And that's virtually impossible for "GoT", there's too much going on and too many characters.

I hope they figure this out before the wheels start to fall off the show. I was there when it happened to "X-Files"....it's not pretty.

"Dancing with the Stars" fell the fukk off the last few years. But I just checked the numbers for the last 2 episodes of "The Walking Dead"..........:whoo: I didn't realize it was getting better ratings than everything on TV other than maybe the NFL.

:patrice: Maybe I should give in & finally start watching TWD.

This is a tricky question.

On average "GoT" has more viewers, but the final 4 episodes of "BB" were higher than any episode of "GoT", and the finale had 10.2 million viewers, twice as much as the most watched episode of "GoT".

Also "BB" is the most watched show on Netflix in the U.S.:

http://www.cnet.com/news/breaking-bad-is-top-netflix-us-show-doctor-who-in-top-10/

Obviously there's no equivalent for "GoT" since it's on HBO.

To be fair I'd say over all "GoT" might be more popular....but I doubt it will ever reach what season 5 of "BB" did, either in viewership or pop culture relevance.

As far as which is better....the people that write "GoT" think "BB" is the GOAT, and the actors are all huge fans. GRR Martin himself wrote a blog about "BB" the day "Ozymandias" aired.

And that speaks for itself really. :manny:

Now here's a picture of Jesse Pinkman and Melisandre:

The question was between "GoT" and "BB"....and the writers of "GoT" think "BB" is the GOAT. Actually, they think "The Wire" and "BB" are tied for #1:

What Vince Gilligan and his team have created with that show is nothing short of American art. I don't have enough superlatives to throw his way. When I met Vince, I was hoping he'd be a douche bag so I could hate him with a clear conscience, but the sad truth is that he's the nicest guy in the world.

It's been a long time since I stayed up all night finishing a novel, and that's depressing. That said, I would put Season 4 of The Wire or any of the seasons of Breaking Bad against 99 percent of contemporary fiction, and pick Simon and Gilligan as the victors in terms of complexity of storytelling, depth of characters, and memorable dialogue.
