I would love to see a chart of the play time between these new gamepass releases.

I’ve come to the conclusion in my own life that having too many games means I have less motivation to finish one before moving onto the next.

Usually when a big game comes out that I’m looking forward to I’m so engrossed in it and its all i want to do for a few days. But when i get a bunch of stuff I hop and skip around to the point where i just lose interest all together. This happened to me just now with persona strikers, yakuza, Zone of Enders, Mario Rabbids, Ori, Hades...now they are probably doomed to my backlog forever.

I bet thats how gamepass users feel, especially with the quick resume. Each Bethesda game is gonna get like 20 minutes of playtime before they move on to the next gamepass release.

Sony stans :mjlol:

gotta love the “fake concern”

“I wonder how much devs are getting paid from this? :dwillhuh:

“I wonder what’s the average playtime between games? :dwillhuh:

“I wonder if it’s possible to have too many gaming options? :dwillhuh:

“I wonder how does microsoft profit from this? :dwillhuh:

shyt that ppl who actually have game pass and are playing the games do not give a single fukk about :yeshrug:

It's amazing Xbox fans have so much time to play all these games on Gamepass as they appear to spend most of their time online trying their hardest to convince everyone how great it is!

All that time could be spent playing Doom 64 or some shyt
Why play Doom 64 when you can play Doom Eternal, which was released last year:yeshrug:

Even a Sony stan can look at the potential and actuality of Game Pass and salivate. Game Pass hasn't quite reached that must have status in part because Microsoft's studio output isn't quite there yet but inside the next year to two years Game Pass will be there easily. Right now Game Pass is a good appetizer but it will become a main course in the not too distant future.

I’m personally speaking for my experience. I don’t have interest in gamepass for the same reason I don’t have PSNOW. I just don’t care about having an assload of games that I’m not going to be heavily invested in finishing for another monthly fee. It just doesn’t fit the way i consume games. I already have a huge backlog of games i know I’m not gonna finish, why do i need 300 more? That’s just not a compelling reason for me.

If others find value in it cool but I’m certainly not “losing” anything by being indifferent toward it

ya bcuz of my game library I was good on game pass after it ran out but them adding the bethesda package won me over cuz there’s easily at least 4 games I wanna play off rip that woulda cost me $130 on their own...it’s instantly a great value tho imo for those new to xbox or those who passed on the xbox one last gen

Also, i do kind of find the parallels between Gamepass and Netflix to be pretty clear. It’s also my main criticism for that streaming services as well...

It’s like, yeah, you can say Netflix is well worth the money if you just take an overall snapshot on the sheer amount of content on it. You can always find something to watch if you’re reaaally bored and don’t already have a list of things you can watch. But I don’t consume Netflix that way either. I rarely turn it on any given day and just watch some random show or movie on it, although i know thats the appeal for people coming from cable.

With Netflix its usually a big movie or tv show announced coming to the service that i keep a mental note of (or a new season) and i binge it and move on. I don’t really stay on the app surfing for more shyt to watch.

That’s exactly how i play games. I wait for something i really want to come out, play it and move on, or just take a break from gaming for a few weeks. I don’t turn on my console everyday just looking for games to play

I also don’t think its gonna be that appealing to people that just play CoD, Fortnite, FIfa, or 2k, etc. 80% of the time they turn their consoles on.

This is why I own an Xbox but don't sub to Game pass. I game very inconsistently. Also at this point Microsoft doesn't make 2 games a year I buy from them. I almost buy exclusively on PlayStation.

To be honest if I didn't sell 2 Xbox Series X consoles that mostly paid for mine I wouldn't have one right now. I'm not their current target customer but I could be because if they get studios like Obsidian, Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and Bethesda putting out games at a decent clip I'd sub to it. Once you cross 2 games a year it's cheaper to sub to Game Pass then buy the games.

I’ve always maintained this opinion. I said in a couple years when bethesda, obsidian, inxile, double fine start releasing games it’ll be worth it -FOR ME- but even then not really. Because if the plan is to save money, then buying another console and adding another monthly subscription to my life when I’m still gonna be buying AAA multiplatform, and PS5 exclusives doesn’t really make life any easier for me.

For me Xbox is a secondary console. I'd jump in and out of Game Pass depending on the month and what's available. I'm not interested in maintaining another monthly sub. I pay about $90 a month in subs now. That's enough.

That's going to be a headwind for them and all these other streaming services. There's too many of them and they're sprouting up like weeds all over the place. I tried Peacock for a year for the $30 and I haven't actually watched anything on it. By the time Paramount+ came out I just ignored it. Same with Discover+.

Everybody can't have a streaming/subscription service. There needs to be some consolidation in the space.

Exactly, I feel like I’m being led down a rabbit hole of subscriptions. You can make it cheap but it’s a lot of micro managing.
