Overrall Microsoft has a plan and Sony doesn't. I think Sony didn't realize how fast shyt is changing in regards to GamePass/Backward Compat/60FPS and features. Microsoft combing PC with the gaming console has changed the narrative. Sony as of now is selling due to its reputation it has rightfully earned but this generation so far not looking good at all. This shyt is reminding me of the PS3 days. They have no plan.

Backward Compat seem to be a primary focus for them with the new patent regarding trophies for old games
I think it ties into them being a hardware company but they have been behind regarding innovation for the longest. I would say on the other hand them being in movies have allowed them to be a leader in single player story driven narrative games.
They also get rid of service on items unlike most gaming companies
