This is such a good point. My time is limited, I can't be spending 10-20 hours bored or learning complex mechanics anymore. I have to be really interested in an IP or some gameplay loop to really give it time because there is so much good shyt out there, and so little time in the day.

Nah, that's not the best of analogies. There are beauty/aesthetic standards that are considered universally attractive (like thick thighs, phat ass, big boobs, long legs, chiseled chest, abs, etc.). Perhaps something better would be what's one's intepretation of art is. Any art, at that, as whether "good" or "bad" art, there can be different impressions of it.
