Gamestop is about to close almost half their stores

There are 2 Gamestop stores within 25 minutes from me. One is about 10 minutes and the other 25. The next closest one is about 45 minutes out. They just closed one that was about 15 minutes out and it closed fast. The sign in the strip mall is already gone even.

I think they're more a crypto holding company than a game retailer these days.

They just closed like 4 stores in my city so everyone is now 30 minutes apart except for two.

4 left but I’m sure they will be down to one or two by years end.

I know stores can't survive off ambiance alone, but I loved going in GameStop because it felt almost the same as going in the video store as a teen to rent games.

It didn't help that both our game stops were in or very close to the plazas our wal marts were in.

There are about 3 gamestops within 15 minutes of each other in my little county. Our mall used to have two Gamestops, one on the first level and the other right above it.

That's how I feel/felt about going into FYE. Haven't really felt that way about game stop since they were Electronics Boutique.

Last time I can remember going to a Gamestop was for the midnight release of NBA 2K13. Hate to hear about people losing their jobs, though. I know one closed in Seattle, but there are a few in the surrounding areas (Lynnwood, Renton). Probably on borrowed time.

I don’t know how GameStop and Best Buy made It to the end of the line.

Walmart/Target basically stole their key business in electronics. CD/DVDs are on the way out. Collectibles like Pokémon cards can’t fill the gap.

That Geek Squad sound system business can’t pull in that much money.

GameStop, FuncoLand etc., had more of an aura when I was young.

Parents bought the games so I had to think long and hard about what I wanted.

Now, if I see it...I buy it new from Best Buy or Amazon. GameStop had the used game hustle, but with PS+ and GamePass, it's not really needed. Plus we all remember how they'd take your game and give you $6 for it and then turn around and sell it for $49.99.

I was so against dl and buying physical 5 years ago. Just so convenient
