Playstation is down to historic lows, individually. Has nothing to do with xbox.

Beyond that xbox being down SHOULD mean playstation is up if the console market was booming.

That’s what we are doing right? Console wars? People are leaving xbox for playstation right?

Why hasn’t xbox struggles resulted in playstation gains??? :jbhmm:

PlayStation 5 is ahead of PlayStation 4 in the US, Xbox’s primary region

So it is

Without talking about xbox…..

PS5 is down worldwide and it just had its worst holiday sales season in both Hardware and Software in decades.

You keep talking about xbox but if anything xbox being down only makes PS5 situation more apparently dire those lost xbox people should be turning into playstation people.

They are not.

If sony can’t even poach defected xbox players, how does their platform grow into the future??? :lupe:

pc market is going to be in trouble. Makes me wonder what this all means for the rumored xbox hybrid. It could potentially find a market if they can figure out pricing

We really need stronger consumer protections, because this is blatant price gauging. Too bad, there little to no regulation to stop this.

its not a scary signal its a direct result of the price hikes. a better question is where did the money go, what are people buying instead. most likely phones. but really idk.

and its not looking good for the next systems either. I hope they have something planned to get around the RAM shortage & GPU hikes. Microsoft ran to Windows, Sony most likely will just try to copy Nintendo.

For real. Things shouldn't jack up in price like that. I can understand a slight price hike, but not a 200% price increase on a product. Sadly, consumers are screwed over because there's no consumer protection. What I don't get about the whole AI crazy, they're hoarding components but pricing out potential consumers. I guess they want people to rent hardware through the cloud or something because none of this craze makes sense.

If things actually got that bad, developers would just switch to developing lower end games....would they? who knows :patrice:

Which is something some of them should have did a long time ago.

Went from making FF XIII-2 in 18 months with preexisting assets, FFX in 2 years etc, to these BS 7+ years development timelines. (I just keep using FF examples cause that's who I know the most about)

I would gladly take a game with PS3 era graphics if it meant they could develop it in around 2 years.

Witcher 3, that game still holds up and took 3+ years

Why should the government get involved with this? Nvidia can price these things however they want and people can vote with their wallets. This is an optional consumer good not a necessity.

The same government that Huang gifted money towards the ballroom.

The same government giving billionaires tax cuts.

A government that believes in deregulation and laissez faire.

Good luck.

Console gaming is dying though. Especially with the youth. I think 30 year olds are the biggest market for consoles now, and proof is that Ps5 is outselling the much newer Switch2.

Millennials are now getting older and having kids so eventually they’ll be out of the market too. Problem is console gaming is competing with TikTok and YouTube now. Twitch too. Kids don’t play games as much as they watch gamers, so Sony and Nintendo have to change their approach.

But still I’m not worried. They’ll adapt. Gaming still has the biggest potential out of all the entertainment industries. This is just a down turn leading into something newer/better.

I been saying this the past few years and Microsoft seen it even at last place. Consoles are basically done.

These are some skewed numbers you guys are throwing out. The PS5 is basically selling slightly above the pace of the PS4 on the same timeline. The Switch is close to being the most sold console of all time and the Switch 2 is selling very well. There's only one console that is actually struggling to move units off the shelf. All this doom scrolling and doom and gloom talk when the industry as a whole has been doing great and pumping out good games lol
