The video game console market in the US just posted it's worst November revenue numbers since November 2005 and spending was down 27% from November 2024. The memory shortage is threatening to raise console hardware prices despite this.

Yeah no shyt.

Switch 2 is more expensive than Switch (will still move massive number in December like always)

Black Friday PS5 on special is twice the price of PS4 on special after 5 years.... Could get a Spiderman bundle Slim for $199

Xbox is a fukking disaster has increased prices while not even running Black Friday, in 2018 you could pick up an Xbox One X for $399, compare that to a full price Xbox Series X

All 3 consoles in 2018 sold over 1.3 million units versus in 2025 going by vgcharts (742k ps5, 473k switch 2 and 120k xbox)

Sony dropped 43%
Nintendo dropped 63.5%
Microsoft dropped 90.77%

Yet you have the 90% crowd acting like it's everyones problem... yet we all know a November slim price drop combined with GTA6 is easily cracking 1.5m

China is making cheap, quality triple A games. India is starting to make games. The industry will adjust.

To me its not even about the games anymore its about prices of these games and prices of these parts...:picard:
Parts, yeah, it's bullshyt. But gamers have already pushed back on pricing and some devs have backed down. Plus, most of the best selling games of the year, Silksong, Arc Raiders, Expedition 33 etc. are sub $50 games. Enough $80 flops will force a shift.

this is like people who doom about the economy for years on end, only to be sidelined for entire bull runs cuz "the next Great Depression's coming"

and just like them, you get absolutely nothing out of a crash except "I told you so". okay great, now what :mjlol:

imagine getting the games we got this past year, seeing what 2026 is about to offer and worrying about hypothetical crashes, just play/support these good games out here :pachaha:

I never could understand how someone who "loves games :blessed:" stay trying to predict some doomsday event with gaming just because of a couple things that didn't pan out(game flops, studio closures, weak sales one particular month etc.)

I can almost bet money that next 2026 November sales will be crazy because of GTA 6 alone.

The industry has already crashed to some extent, especially in the west and with triple A games. Consolidation and cancelled games plus the need to put games in as many spots as possible tells you this.

Layoffs worldwide that typically the gaming industry has been basically immune to are feeling it the hardest.

It's funny because the same folks who were doooming and glooming about ABK and consolidations and layoff now are like. "Everything is fineeeeee" :blessed:
