Since Amnesia dropped (could be before it, but that's the benchmark in my mind), Survival Horror has seen a bit of a renaissance. It's not even because of hardware imo, it's just the realization that these games are more effective when you limit direct encounters and focus on hiding over combat imho.

Hack and Slash has a really good shot too. Dragon's Crown is straight fire and I even saw good reviews for the latest Dynasty Warriors (I might cop Extreme Legends just for the nostalgia).

Last one I'll throw out thanks to Telltale pretty much by itself...point and click adventure type games. The Cave was slept on, Monkey Island got HD remakes and Walking Dead/Wolf Among Us/Game of Thrones are all on the verge of being franchises that have multiple sequel value in this genre.

Dragon's Crown was slept on, awesome beat em up game with RPG elements.

Survival/Horror games could really be great though in this new generation, there's been some piff out there lately.

Visual Novel styled games are also becoming bigger among handhelds, especially when the story is actually worth enjoying.

Every once and a while my bro and I would get drunk and play on n64 games for nostalgia...this was one of em :banderas:. We need a worthy Bomberman sequel, bruhs:to:

If it were up to me, I would wanna see more beat em ups/hack and slash titles next gen. Imagine a Final Fight reboot with the next gen treatment.

Point and click type adventure games are alive and well on the handhelds. They pretty much go hand in hand with the mystery games like Layton, Ghost Trick, n Danganronpa
