Guru is in my top five. I remember a while ago, I was arguing with someone telling me that he was mediocre or serviceable. Guy was the first person I ever put on ignore. :mjlol:

I don't know what makes people so :patrice: over giving Guru his props or claiming him as one of the best. Maybe he gets ignored because of his voice, but he has GOAT-level verses on every Gang Starr album.

All I'll say is...what would happen if you gave Nas an album full of Premo beats in the 90s? Hov? Imagine that album and tell me it's not better than every Gangstar album.
:yeshrug:

RIP Guru, he a legend. But he's not on That level.

I really hope to hear and read the interviews on making this album. I want to know exactly where Preme got his accapellas from. I am also glad that the Gang Starr foundation is featured prominently for this project.

I know Preme don't fukk with Solar but I wonder if Solaar has some old unreleased or unused accapellas of Guru.

I'm rocking my Gang Starr shirt right now.

I'm kind of glad Nas is not on the album beside the promo commercial. Iike how he kept it algiend with what they've done in the past with the gang starr foundation and one or two guest. Fitting way for them to go out.

Actually, yes. Rap isn't about pure spitting ability, its about chemisty and concepts. Guru had unmistakable chemistry with Dj Premier, and whilst a lot of premiers collabs are classics, how many of them are on the level of mass appeal? just to get a rep? take it personal?

Like Eminem in 2000 is a better rapper than pretty much anyone, technically speaking...

does he have anything better than say... HNIC?

Stop derailing this thread with yall bullshyt

Fans know what Guru was about, my concern is are the verses leftovers or simply unused or from the solar years

And btw hes one of my favorite sounding voices so ill be cool either way, preme needs to bring the goods above the level hes used us past 10 years or so

Solaar has to be sitting on some Guru vocals though. this is what ticks me off and how I know that nikka was all about his weak as self. If he had vocals, he could've at least sold them to Preme. No one is going to bump or even buy anything he does with guru. i read some comments and muthfukkas clownin he dumb ass. LOL. I hope preme got all the vocals that he sought and feels that this project is as complete as he envisioned.

For my own selfish reasons (since I was a fan since the first time I hear Words I manifest on Yo MTV raps in the 80's) I have a Gang starr wish list that I wish could be fulfilled. I wish he could do another (albeit smaller) Full Clip type release that includes Battle, the Mo Better blue's version of Jazz Thing, the unreleased (Japanese release version of Doe in Advance, and CDQ versions of I'm not Superman, Brooklyn Trooper and there whatever else they have. By doing this, I can rest assured that all real Gang starr material is officially released on a Gang Starr project and that, as a collector, my gang starr music collection is now complete.
