Ok, so Preme already had 5 unreleased vocals from Gang starr tracks, he was said to have or be getting 7-8 more vocals from European artists that Guru worked with and then he purchased 30 from Solaar? So we are talking about over 40 vocals and there are but 16 tracks on the new album. Anyone think there could be an additional Gang Starr project some time after?

I still think Preme should consider remixing a few of the (IMO) lesser deep cuts like The ? Remainz, Take Two and Pass, and So Wassup.

I hate that he had to contact that piece of shyt solaar to get GURU vocals :pacspit:

I think Premier should have left Gang Starr alone.

Its a jarring listen, nobody was crying out for a new Gang Starr record in 2019 and Premier didn't have the raw material to really make it feel like a worthy part of their discography.

A few good tracks but in general

You think so?

I found like 2 or 3 joints to be a little off-sounding but 2/3rds are very dope to me and 1/3rd of the joints on here I was assuming were Ownerz leftovers that Premier just got the rights to recently :manny:

Setting aside your opinion of the album, I understand why you think Gang Starr didn’t need to be touched. On the flip side though, I can understand the desire for Premier to want to close the book on his own terms.

I am a big Gang Starr head. And while I wasn’t tripping too much off the Solar stuff, I did still think it was a sad ending chapter to Guru’s life. Maybe Guru was exactly where he wanted to be in life. I don’t know.

And maybe this album just “feels” nice and isn’t as dope as I think it is...but as a life long GS fan I am enjoying this celebration of Guru’s life by the people that loved him and worked with him the most. Even if a few things don’t sound perfect they sound better than most of what’s coming out IMO and nothing that embarrassing to the Gang Starr catalogue.

There's some tracks I like for sure, it was dope hearing Jeru again, the track with MOP etc. Some of it is a good addition to their catalog, but some of the verses Guru would have either worked more on or left on the cutting room floor if he was still alive.

Plus some of Premo's beats here are not his best, and some of the guest features feel out of place.

I'd really like to see Premier and Jeru hook back up, I have no idea why they stopped working together.
