Payton's averages started to go up when Seattle turned mediocre from 98-03.

Kidd had his best years leading teams to the NBA Finals......A team that was known as "Clippers east".

He elevated a whole franchise and took it to another level.

Like I say, the name "Glove" has a lot of momentum behind it.

A lot of people are going to be mad at me:jawalrus:

Gary Payton's career stats

16.3 ppg

6.7 apg

Don't get me wrong, I know he had a cool nick name and played great D, but Jason Kidd is a once every 20 years type of point guard.

I'll take Jason Kidd.....Kidd actually edges him out in career steals per game, to.

I actually think GP is one of the most overrated players from the 90's.

Him and his running mate Shawn Kemp have mediocre career stats.

But them nikkaz is juggernauts in urban pop culture. You can't stop that kind of momentum:manny:
Payton didn't play his rookie year and he only played like 10 minutes a game his last 3 years in the NBA. That's why his career stats are so low.

The question ask who was better in their prime.

Oh yeah.....Gary Payton averaged 27.4 mpg his rookie year and nearly 28 mpg his last 3 years

A lot of people are going to be mad at me

Flodge free zone
both awesome. Kidd was way funner to spectate. Glove was obviously a scorer.

Kidd gets my vote. i loved watching him feed the Mavs last year. he's a genius.

Its very close but I would take Peyton. Kidd was not an efficient offensive player and I would say that Gary was a slightly better defender and a polished offensive player. Kidd is the better passer but he had to be due to his lack of offense.

:pachaha:

You see the team AI took to the finals breh?

What do y'all see in Payton?:wtf:

Payton's Career playoff averages are 14 points and 5 assist:what::sitdown:

AI's Career playoff averages are 30 points and 6 assist:leon::stopitslime:

Gary Payton was a good scorer, but he couldn't single handedly carry a team on offense like AI

No way those 76er teams make it to the finals with Payton instead of AI.They wouldn't have had the scoring punch.

Defensively, they wouldn't have been much better.AI has a better spg average than him, to.

Glove was a better man to man defender, but I don't think that would be enough to make up for AI's scoring abilities on that 76ers team.

I don't get the Gary Payton stuff.Personally, he was never that impressive to me.I thought he was a phenomenal man to man defender, but anything beyond that:yeshrug:....he had a rugged offensive game and a knuckle ball jump shot:hmm:
