TSA pays for my transportation. :ahh: I get $60 a month on a credit card for transit fare. I didn't even reload my smart card for two months and I still got over $200. I also got a $500 gas credit card I don't use. I've loaned it out a few times though. :ld:

Man, my power bill has been going up for years too a long with food and other things. Cost of living pay increases can't catch up with the prices of everyday essentials that every family needs.

yup, and lets not talk about my health care insurance cost going up around 10% each year it seems as well. last week my wife had to have her wisdom teeth pulled, and I still had to pay $300 despite both me and her being covered on both our insurances (PPO's by the way).

the only thing one can do is cut out on the discretionary spending. which would mean making another part of the economy stagnant.

for instance, I'm not going to the movies, buying lots of clothes, going out to eat and shyt like that. hell, I don't even drive that much. Icombine errands by doing them either on the way to work or come home. Also, I have only put 150 miles on my car in the past week and a half which is amazing given my commute to work is around 25 miles each way to work.

basically, when the price of a necessity goes up, then I spend less on what I consider a luxury.

Yep, same thing I do as well. I haven't eaten out in a minute and have been taking left overs for lunch, something I never did before. Also make a lot of cheap meals like spaghetti, baked chicken legs and rice, etc. I'm actually considering getting off of health insurance because I'm paying 140 dollars a month for it and only go to the doctor maybe 3 times a year and have no kids. I can go to a clinic and pay 50 dollars per visit. If something catastrophic happens though, I'll be screwed. :manny:

I can't condone that last part. I never use my health insurance, but you dont wanna play craps with your life.

my wife had that issue with her wisdom teeth, my oldest had to have hand surgery a few years ago, and my youngest needed some glasses recently. that shyt is very necessary.

but I co-sign your thriftyness. I take a lunch or leftovers to work every day damn near. and if I dont make one, then I have to wait til I get home to eat. and since its cold outside, there's really no incentive for me to walk down the street to a restaurant for food. I'd rather wait than be out in the cold. I also only drive to work 1/2 of the days a week. 2 days driving, 2 days public transportation. work at home the other day. I have said in other threads, that given the cost of fuel, it takes me around $10 a day to drive to work, but only $4.50 to take the train round trip. except public transportation takes longer.

also, we been cooking dinner almost every night as well.

Bush's cronies killed the electric car back in 2001. :dead:

oil company lobbyist have been around long before this tho. but they are really getting out of hand the last 10 years or so.

this is why we don't have viable cars running on alternative fuel sources. think about it. the united states has enough natural gas to last for centuries alone. why aren't we using that shyt to run our vehicles and not cutting out the stinky middle east once and for all????

Unless you work in a city or heavily populated area, public transportation isn't an option. Buses take forever and the rails don't go everywhere.

yup, there's only a handful of cities in the US where public transportation is viable. I have to take the train (sometimes 2 trains if I transfer to the express line) and the bus when I take public transportation, but since them shyts run like clockwork out here, I get to my destination at the EXACT same time every time.

We're hittin 5 out here.

Its so demonic, friends. I may be forced to buy one of these wimpy cars to save gas money.

Spend $30,000 on something that depreciates the moment you move it off the lot to save 50 a month. :troll:
