For one day? No.

Especially when you're just going to turn around and spend twice as much tomorrow because you missed a day. Now a week or more...

boycotting a week dont do shyt either. people have to adjust their lives and stop consuming so much as a whole. that's the only way you could start sending a message.

when I used to work 5 miles from my crib, I would ride my bike every day. this was a couple years ago when gas was at $4 for the first time. however, this isn't an option for everyone. but it was just an alternative for me to not having to consume as much fuel when I was in a position where it wasn't essential for me getting to work.

So everyone boycotting the use and purchase of oil products for one day would not send a message to big business?? :usure:

naw, u boycott by changing your lifestyle. stop making unecessary trips. stop buying shyt u dont need. you dont need to be out and about every weekend. that's just excess consumption. by cutting down ur consumtpion, that's hwo u send a message.

I definately agree with you about consuming less. There are a lot of ways people can scale back their lifestyles to the point where things like the rising cost of gas won't affect them. Going out to eat or shopping at Walmart 4-5 times a week is going to use more gas. Sit your ass down somewhere and drive when necessary and it won't be that big of a deal.

yup. my work week getting seperated into two halves is one of the best things I like about my job. cuz now my week works like this Mon, Tue/Thu, Fri with me being at the crib on wednesday. so I can stay up late on tuesday night if I want and sleep in wed morning while working in my jogging pants and not taking a shower.

plus the work weeks fly by when a monday is essentially a thursday and a tuesday is a friday in my mind. I'd hate to go back to being in the office 5 days a week. thats for the birds.

:heh: that's exactly how i think about it, even the "oooh, i can stay up late tonight" aspect....but yea, if i don't get some flexibility in the next two months, there's no way i can keep this job, the commute + the hours they expect leaves me with literally NO TIME in my day 2-3 days a week, it's ridiculous.

yup, and lets not talk about my health care insurance cost going up around 10% each year it seems as well. last week my wife had to have her wisdom teeth pulled, and I still had to pay $300 despite both me and her being covered on both our insurances (PPO's by the way).

the only thing one can do is cut out on the discretionary spending. which would mean making another part of the economy stagnant.

for instance, I'm not going to the movies, buying lots of clothes, going out to eat and shyt like that. hell, I don't even drive that much. Icombine errands by doing them either on the way to work or come home. Also, I have only put 150 miles on my car in the past week and a half which is amazing given my commute to work is around 25 miles each way to work.

basically, when the price of a necessity goes up, then I spend less on what I consider a luxury.

yeah i'm fresh out of school and i live at home so my expenses are a minimum

i'm only working part time, but i work about 22 miles from my house and the amount of money i'm spending on gas every week. if i pick up a few extra shifts, i'm driving almost 150 miles in a week just for work excluding all the random shyt :damn:

and my car always lying about how many miles of gas left in tank, exponentially decreasing once we get below 70 or 80 :comeon:

go troll somewhere else, lame nikka.

:pacspit: yeah leave your job and town where you live, so you can go to a higher cost of living city

you :cape: for oil companies, people just asking for reasonable prices and just noting an observed increase in the cost of gas

yeah i don't have a ton saved up, but i'm not and i doubt most of the other people in this thread are broke and cant afford gas. it's just that money can be used or saved for other things

With nations like china and India enjoying booming industries, you will not see the prices go down. Deal with it and stop acting like Americans are the only people on this earth. A lot of socalled third worlders are eating now, which means demand is growing, only leading to higher prices.

Basic supply and demand.

oil companies and lobbyist are in bed with the politicians. which is why no one really gives a shyt about developing alternative fuel sources.

you think cars can't run on solar, electric, or natural gas in this day and age???? you think cars should in 2013 should be getting the same gas mileage as they were back in the 90's???? that makes no sense. why aren't cars getting 50mpg now????

Again, you're spending more on purchase price just to save a few hundred a year for something that depreciates in value. It's not really a value.

Say you pay $5000 more for a hybrid and you save 500 a year in gas. you'll recoup your costs in 10 years LMFAO!!

:beli:
Gas will be likely be $5 in 1-2 years, and then $6 in 7 years. Not too mention, you can always get a 07 - 09 Hybrid Sedan for $14 k - $18 k.
