Nah people aren't going to church to live exactly by the bible. They're looking for reassurance that the way they already live is OK. If a pastor is up there telling people they're a horrible person for having recreational sex with their wife, drinking socially, having premarital sex with their girlfriend, they're finding another church to attend. People want to have their vices, give a half ass apology, and go to heaven.

The way people pick and choose which parts of the bible have importance is

The church should have the right to hate and outlaw homosexuals from their premises and not reside over or even recognize their marriages.
